32 Good Things That Happened in Travel in 2010 (Travel Post)

It's time for year-in-travel recaps, but I can't bear to read one more word about bedbugs, patdowns, or Steven Slater. So let's look back at only the good and the cool of 2010, in no particular order:

**1.** The Harry Potter theme park opened. (Yeah, that's Brendan Fraser.)

**2.** The Obama administration forced airlines to change their ways to avoid long tarmac delays—and it appears to be working.

**3.** The new Hotel Elysian in Chicago instituted a no-tipping policy.

**4.** Cruise lines are warming to the idea of cabins for solo passengers.

**5.** Continental is testing passengers' self-swiping of boarding passes.

**6.** A high-speed train now connects Madrid and Valencia in just 95 minutes.

**7.** The World Lens app can translate words it sees through your phone's camera.

**8.** California's Mammoth Mountain ski resort is launching snowcat food trucks.

**9.** Westin is stocking hotels with borrowable workout clothes, including sneakers.

**10.** Singapore's Changi airport now has a 40-foot-slide.

**11.** The Canyons ski resort is bringing the heated chair lift to North America.

**12.** Google Earth has live flight tracking.

**13.** Holiday Inn and InterContinental are testing letting guests use their smartphones as room keys.

Anyone Know How To Get LOW (cheapest) Rates From Venetian Las Vegas Hotel?

Any web-site or promotional code i can use for this hotel?

If not…do you got any ideas where i can stay in Las Vegas for cheap price on the strip In July?

CHEAP for me is: $60 a night to $100 a night (want a 2night weekend for less then $200). Going for a wedding

Thanks!

Do a Google search for VENETIAN LAS VEGAS PROMO CODE

Even with a promo code the rate will almost certainly be over $100 per night. All the luxury properties will be over $100… Caesars Palace, Mandalay Bay, Wynn, Encore, Bellagio, Palazzo, THEhotel.

Trump MIGHT have a deal under $100… But they don't have a casino and they're not right on the strip. If they're under $100 that will be the best place you can book at that price though.

Fairly nice strip hotels which should be under $100 include Bally's (center strip) and Luxor (south strip). Don't choose a hotel solely for the price though. Read guest reviews before booking. Just do a Google search for

LUXOR LAS VEGAS REVIEWS

BALLYS LAS VEGAS REVIEWS

etc.

Can you reccommend reasonable places in Las Vegas?

Planning on going to Vegas in early March. What hotels are reasonable in prices and what are some of the attractions you reccommend to see and do? Hows the weather/ Thanks!

The weather in March is gorgeous, around 65-70 degrees. I've been to Vegas a few times in March and have always enjoyed it. Don't forget to pack a few sweaters and maybe a light jacket for the evenings. I've found good deals on hotels at Flamingo (great location, mid-strip), Bally's, Imperial Palace, etc. Not the most glamorous places to stay, but reasonable in price and in a convenient location. Try Orbitz, I've had good luck there.packaging it along with my flight. Do a quick Google search for "Orbitz coupons" for addition discounts (I found a coupon for $75 off). Definitely check out the Bellagio fountains and conservatory (botanical gardens), Cirque du Soleil shows (in order of my fave- Mystere, O, Zumanity), eat at the Planet Hollywood (previously Aladdin) buffet, take a trip out to Hoover Dam or Red Rock.. I could go on and on! Good luck!

Question about New York, New York. (hotel)?

I'm doing a research about New York, New York and its asking me to list one hotel on the left and one hotel on the right side of New York, New York. The hint that they gave me was to search for a map of Las Vegas strip. That makes no sense at all. Any help is appreciated.

P.s. Yes i can go to google and put in hotel in new york, new york, but it won't help me to determine which side the hotel is on. Thanks

*Thank you Stan!

"New York, New York" is a hotel/casino in Las Vegas.

Cities aren't described in terms of left and right. The are described in terms of north and south and/or east and west.

Streets are described as right or left ("on the left side of the street").

The Las Vegas Strip is Las Vegas Blvd in Las Vegas, Nevada where there are a lot of hotels and casinos. If you are looking at Las Vegas Blvd (the strip) on a map where north is up, the New York New York Hotel and Casino is on the left (west) side of the strip. The MGM Grand Hotel and Casino is right across the street.
