Homburg
The Homburg is also known as Fedora’s cousin. It is a felt hat with a slight curl on the brim and the brim is usually stiffer. Homburg is usually identified by the single dent in the middle of the crown. It was made popular by Edward VII when he visited Bad Homburg in Hesse, Germany. Trilby
Trilby hats have narrower brim and it’s brim are snapped down at the front but turned up at the back. Both sides are pinched while the center has an indented crown. It also has a shorter crown compared to the Fedora. It rose to fame during the 1960s when it’s infeasible to wear a hat with a taller crown because of the lower head clearance in automobiles.
Porkpie
The porkpie is a small round hat that has a flat top and a narrow brim. Its brim is always turned up while the crown has a crease along its perimeter. This hat was named pork pie since it looks similar to the British pork pie dish. From 1830’s to 1860s, it was famously worn by women but later on it was adapted by men. In 1970’s, it was revived by Gene Hackman in the movie, The French Connection.
Boater
A boater hat is made of stiff sennit straw. It has a straight brim with a flat top and a wide band. This summer hat is typically a favorite choice of boaters, sailors, and rowers. Bowler
