JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway, CPA, announced the hiring of her communications staff. Gena Terlizzi joins the State Auditor’s office as director of communications and Rebecca Gorley will serve as public information officer.
“Maintaining open communication with the public is a priority for this office because it results in greater accountability and transparency,” Galloway said. “Gena and Rebecca bring public and private sector communications experience, and I look forward to working with these dedicated professionals.”
Terlizzi most recently served as director of communications for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, after serving as director of communications for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. She is a former journalist, covering news and politics in the Midwest. Terlizzi holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree in public affairs reporting from the University of Illinois – Springfield.
Gorley has worked as the deputy communications director for Progress Missouri. She was previously program and community development coordinator for Queen of Peace Center in St. Louis. Gorley holds bachelor’s degrees in social work and American Studies and a master’s degree in social work from Saint Louis University.
Scotland County native David Luther has served as acting media director for the office since March. Luther retired in 2014 following a nearly 30-year career with Jefferson City Public Schools.
“I want to thank David for his work and dedication to the people of Missouri,” Galloway said. “After a long career in public service, David agreed to lend his experience to ensure communications continued from this office. He is a true public servant, and I have appreciated his contributions to our team.”
Terlizzi and Gorley join the office effective May 26.
