My DD went on a school tour for her now 4 year old the other day....it is the school she has him booked into as according to many sources including word of mouth it is a great school.

She has not been in primary school for 17 years and was shocked to see how much they have changed and wonders if it was 'just this school' or the changes are across the board.

There was a very unstructured appearance to the class room where children work in 'stations' according to their preference rather than there being tables and chairs with all children being involved in a similar activity.

There is also no designated lunch time.....this is something his pre school has and she is not too keen on it at pre school let alone FYOS as his lunch box and drink bottle is often not touched.

She is not against change at all but figured that there must be a time when structure becomes a part of the primary education since it will be needed for secondary and beyond.

Can anyone enlighten me/us as to whether this is the norm and whether the outcomes are proven please?
