Each month on Melting Butter, a new Spotify playlist gets published with a tightly edited selection of the best new and classic tracks geared towards listeners with a sophisticated ear. To get notified as soon as they are released, make sure you subscribe to Twitter or Facebook.
Kicking off our fresh fifteen playlist this month with a new release from New York rapper Homeboy Sandman. We love the left-field jazz sounds on his brusque yet cool and quirky release “Talking (bleep)“. Taken from his forth coming LP Kindness For Weakness on Stones Throw records, the album features production from the likes of Large Professor, Jonwayne, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Paul White and RJD2.
We share with you a new release from Londoner Michael Kiwanuka plus a brilliant video in support of his new single “Black Man In A White World” from the talented director Hiro Murai. And be sure to listen up for the new EP from 23 year-old NY producer Photay featuring one of our favourite tracks this month, with the bubbling electronic vibes of “Monday“. Plus new material from Flatbush Zombies, Monkey Robot and Nik Itch.
To honor the legendary rapper Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest who sadly passed away last month, we give you “Butter” to remember him by…. RIP Phife. And thank you for the music.
And, thanks as always for the constant source of quality worldwide musical inspirations from DJ Lefto, Gilles Peterson, J Rocc & Basement Soul.
Happy April from Melting Butter Studios
