It’s our favorite time of year and we love getting away for a few days or long weekends to enjoy the cool weather and to see the colors changing.

This past weekend, we took a Fall Family Getaway to Gatlinburg, Tennessee (one of our favorite places to visit in the Fall) and had a great time! It was supposed to be a couples on trip (us and another couple) but it ended up being a family trip.

Gatlinburg Falls Resort

We stayed in a cabin with Gatlinburg Falls Resort. We’ve stayed with other cabin companies in the past but have never been so impressed with a rental company in this area. The customer service, cleanliness of the cabin, and amenities were amazing.

The boys favorite part was the arcade upstairs in the loft and the hot tub. They kept repeating themselves saying, “Mom, this is the best cabin we’ve ever seen. Thank you!”

The kitchen is fully stocked and is ready for you to whip up breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It was extremely clean too, which is a must for me.

This cabin is such a place where if you weren’t out being a tourist in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg or looking at the trees changing, you’d be A-OK to hang out here for the place. There have been some cabins I’ve visited in the past in the past where I wouldn’t want to be there more than just sleeping. Not this one.

Gatlinburg Falls Resorts has all types of cabins. From 1 bedroom all the way up to 18 bedrooms. Stay up to date on their specials, packages, and follow them on Facebook & Twitter.

DollyWood

It’s no secret that we love this place. But, visiting Dollywood in the Fall is one of our favorite times to go. Why? Read HERE. The rides are super fun,  the entertainment is great, and the festivals throughout the year are very “festive”.

Have you been to Dollywood before? What was your favorite thing about it? Here are a few Family & Budget Friendly Tips for visiting Dollywood.

Today, I’m so excited to be giving away 2 FREE tickets to Dollywood. Who wants to win?

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies

We love visiting aquarium’s all over. It’s a great family outing that you can learn so much from. We visited Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies while in Gatlinburg and really had a great time. We walked in and thought we’d be out in less than an hour {because it didn’t look that big when we entered the building}, and two hours later, we were leaving. There are some aquarium’s that just are “Eh”. Not great, not horrible. Ribley’s Aquarium is definitely a great place to take your family.

There were more salt water exhibits than fresh water. Which is A-OK by us. My boys couldn’t get over all the sharks, turtles, sting ray’s, jellyfish, etc.

There is a moving walkway that is really long! Most of the aquariums that have a moving walkway aren’t as long as the one at Ripleys. I can definitely see why it’s voted #1 Aquarium from TripAdvisor. Check out all their exhibits. You definitely won’t get bored here.

Follow Ripley’s Aquarium on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

Lumberjack Feud Dinner Show

The Lumberjack Feud Dinner Show in Pigeon Forge is something you can take the entire family to! We’ve been to other shows but this one is our new favorite. There are a couple different shows to choose from. (insert logo here)

Within the World’s Largest Indoor Lumberjack Sports Arena true 1934 Smoky Mountain History comes alive as two great logging families fight for the rights to the last remaining timber in what will soon become The Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Rugged ESPN Lumberjacks & High Flying Timber Dogs compete in 16 exciting events to determine which family will stay and which will leave the mountains forever. Put on your lumberjack plaid and cheer your family on to victory in the Smokies Rowdiest Good Time Dinner Show!

There is a Pre-Show that you get to watch and it had all of us rolling in our seats. This is definitely a must see, so when you attend, make sure you arrive early to get in on this extra fun. There are different events within the show. I think my favorite was the Log Roll & Speed Climb.

The boys LOVED the TimberDog party of the show. The stunts and tricks and events these dogs can perform is amazing. Left my boys asking when we were heading out of the show, “When can we get a dog like that?”

Meet the Lumberjacks & Jills. They did an amazing job! My boys were even excited that they got to meet them after the show was over.

We’re excited to see this show again sometime in the near future. It definitely is one that we will come back to see.

I’m so excited to be giving away a voucher for 2 FREE dinner & show tickets to Lumberjack Feud. Who wants to win? Use the widget below to enter the giveaway. a Rafflecopter giveaway

Big Daddy’s Pizzeria

Goodness, this place is such a fun, family friendly place to eat. Literally, we stayed for 2 hours and had no idea. Now parents, when was the last time you stayed at a restaurant for 2 hours with your kids and weren’t ready to pull your hair out?

The food was amazing and the staff was even better! We had a salad and meatballs for an appetizer then we chose the Mama Mia and Pepperoni pizza’s. Check out all that is on their menu. We love that all their ingredients are fresh. Nothing frozen. The pizza being cooked on a real, open, wood fired grill made it taste even better too. Everything on their menu is amazing I’m sure. The pizza’s, appetizer’s, salad’s, and desserts are what we got a taste of and can’t wait to go back to try more.

Another fun thing they have for the kids is doh for the kids to create something out of. Once it’s created, they bake it and sprinkle it with this butter, cinnamon, and sugar topping. That can then be the kids dessert. How fun is that?

We chose to eat at the Pigeon Forge location because of the arcade. The boys absolutely had a blast – and so did we. They have another location in Gatlinburg as well as a location in Sevierville and many other restaurants that they own including Alamo, Mama’s Farmhouse, Bennet’s Bar-B-Que, and Mad Dog’s Creamery.

You can “like” them on Facebook to keep up with their hours, menu specials, and more! Tell them I sent you over.

We loved our Fall Getaway. Where would you like to getaway to?
