Laura Kassovic

Laura is the CEO of MbientLab Inc. MbientLab is a design studio that creates beautiful wearables. www.mbientlab.com

"My co-founder and I created some pretty bad-ass hardware that enables developers to create wearable devices simply, quickly, and doesn't require an electrical engineer degree!
We have an Android and iOS API that enables you to do things like toggle LEDs and get accelerometer data right from the MetaWear board.
MetaWear is the smallest wearable platform in the world. "

Presentation: MetaWear

With  MetaWear you can build a Myo, a CUFF, or a Fitbit Force in 30 minutes or less.

A tiny BLE wearable development board that is fully production ready and makes it easy to create wearable connected hardware. MetaWear is all you need to create your smart product. In minutes you could be controlling LEDs, buzzers, motors and collecting data from sensors over Bluetooth and onto your very own Smartphone App. Now you can create the perfect consumer product in minutes and send it to a manufacturer the next day.

Yoela Palkin

Yoela is a project manager, designer, and founder on a variety of technical and creative projects in fields including mobile, application development, and marketing technologies.

At the age of 17, Yoela entered UC Berkeley and dove into Computer Science where she first gained interest in the mobile applications space leading to the opening of her first technology company, MyEnterprise Applications. After 3.5 years of growing a mobile development team that specialized in the creation of enterprise level applications for companies like Priceline and Groupon, MyEnterprise Applications was acquired by a top Israeli software engineering firm to grow their mobile department in the United States. Yoela's motto has always been to create products for the 22nd century that can continue to grow with the latest technology and innovation. Yoela's latest endeavor Baskit seeks to improve the online interaction between buyer and merchant at the shopping cart in order to reduce a major problem in the online retail industry called "shopping cart abandonment". With a diverse background in both web and mobile, Yoela continues to consult for major tech firms and startup companies in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Presentation:

Baskit aims to solve one the largest problems in online shopping called - cart abandonment. In 2012, the retail industry generated $3.2TT in revenue. Brick & Mortar produced $2.6TT (92%) while e-commerce accounted for $231B (8%). Various research papers and surveys estimate the online shopping cart abandonment rate between 66% and 75%, which lead to a $462B-$493B loss in revenue in 2012.

As the solution, Baskit partners with brands who want to increase online sales and helps their shoppers purchase across multiple brands with one single transaction. Unlike Amazon, Baskit gives access to 78% of shoppers who buy from two or more retailers/brands without compromising their value. This platform gives any brand/merchant the ability to participate in the Baskit shopping network by plugging into the
functionality on e-commerce sites worldwide. www.baskit.co
