Tina Fussell is the founder and author of the popular lifestyle blog, Flying House by Traveling Mama. After blogging for more than six years, Tina continues to provide her readers with a go-to source for stylish living, travel, and good design. Inspired by her adventures as a globe-trotting mom, Tina’s work as a designer, stylist, and photographer has been featured in numerous print magazines and e-zines. After moving from Morocco to Denmark with her photographer husband and three kids, Tina is a great example of how flexibility and curiosity can change the course of our lives!

“You know that moment when your finger is hovering over the enter key. Hours have been invested, maybe a little heart and soul thrown in there, too, and you cannot wait to share it all with the world… And then the worst happens. Crickets chirp… radio silence descends… and not a soul responds to what a few hours ago you were convinced was going to be your finest moment… How do we overcome the discouragement?”

This subject is a struggle for a lot of bloggers. No one is patting on our back, we don’t have a lot of face to face contact with people, so sometimes you may feel very insecure behind your laptop. Tina encourages us to don’t be afraid and to keep blogging. Because if you’re not out there, the world can’t see you.

But that does sound easier than it is. You might recognize these stories of people achieving unbelievable things. If you ask them what their secret is, they answer: I just believe in it… So if we just believe…we can achieve anything! Right? Ofcourse it’s good to believe in your strenghts, but unfortunately it takes more sometimes.

Advice from Tina:
Sometimes…no matter how hard we work, sometimes you have to quit.

Question yourself: Is this really what I want my life to be about? What if you have a succesfull blog about travelling, but in bed you dream about cake? Well, quit the travelblog and move over to the cakes! Or take a class and keep working on on your skills. Sometimes you can grow in the subject you struggle with. And classes will help you to gain new perspective. After a while you can still decide to quit, but taking new steps will take you new places.

Ask for help and work together
Enlist help for your areas of weakness. Sometimes you need help. This can be your partner, a dear friend or a professional. This can be expensive, but bloggers are lucky as we all have a passion and we can swop: Exchange profile pictures for cake. Include other people in what you’re doing!

Be true to yourself

Sometimes we have to question our goals and expectations. Are we fair to ourselves? You can loose your focus, because you want to get sponsors in and grow and grow. But is that why you started? Didn’t you start blogging because you love to blog? What do you want out of your blog? Are you being fair to yourself in time, money and equipment?
