About Donata and Fair and softly goes far
My name is Donata van der Rassel and I live in the beautiful city of Haarlem. I started blogging in 2010 while I was on maternity leave. I document everything I think is worthwhile with a focus on lifestyle and design but that fits with the fair-and-softly-goes-far-aesthetic which is pastel, ton sur ton.
What blog-related accomplishment are you most proud of?
I guess the thing I’m most proud is the thing I also get complimented on (so I seem to be pulling it off) which is that my blog stands out. I has a unique look and feel and is highly recognizable. Not like one in a dozen so to say. That means you either love it or hate it, but that’s fine, because I’m an all-or-nothing-kind-of-girl.
What is your favourite home, design or lifestyle blog
I follow quite a few blogs, but the ones that inspire me on a regular basis are for instance Bodie & Fou, Jackie Magpie, Miss Moss, Joelix and Lemonstale. I also follow a lot of fellow Dutch bloggers: Bloesem, April & May, VosgesParis, Studio Sjoe Sjoe, Paper Stories etc. Wow, there are just too many to mention! It’s like asking me for my favorite book!
The best blog advice you’ve ever gotten
Quality is better than frequency. This advice came from Nina, who also made the design for my blog. With all these blogs out there you sometimes feel pushed to blog more, but then it becomes a ratrace and you loose the passion. So quality is better than frequency. In my (and Nina’s) opinion that is ;).
Which shops/restaurants/hotels/etc. in Amsterdam are a must-see?
Shops: FridayNext, Cottoncake, Hutspot, Anna+Nina, Charlie&Mary and Skins.
Hotel / restaurant: De Bakkerswinkel, Conservatorium hotel, Lloyd Hotel and Harbour Club. Just to name a few…
