For the day that’s in it we wanted to look at three young female journalists to look out for in 2016.
There’s currently a very high calibre of journalists working in the Irish media. These three journalists are making strides across radio, print and online media.
Emma Nolan
Emma Nolan is a UL graduate of New Media and English and is currently a radio broadcaster with Beat 102-103. She presents The Takeover Monday-Thursdays as well as Friday night’s Beat Anthems and the Sunday Spin. She was previously a producer for Déise am on WLR FM with previous experience in RTÉ and the Daily Mirror. Follow Emma on Twitter here.
Rachel Masterson
Rachel Masterson is a radio presenter for online radio show 8radio.com. She is also the founder of website ceolcaint.com. Rachel has previously worked in Sales & Marketing for Hot Press, as well as a journalist with the Longford Leader and promotion representative for Christmas FM. Rachel is has a BA in Media Production Management from Ballyfermot College of Further Education and a Masters in Digital Media from NUI Galway. Chat with Rachel on Twitter here.
Kelly O’ Brien
Kelly O’Brien is a News Desk Reporter at the Irish Examiner. She is also the founder of ULFM, the University of Limerick’s student radio station. Kelly was involved with An Focal, the student union paper. Kelly has a BA in New Media and English and a MA in Journalism, both from UL. Keep up to date with Kelly here.
These three recent graduates show how that putting in the extra hours both in the workplace and in their own time can get you ahead. It also proves that Irish media outlets acknowledge and appreciate determined, young journalists by giving them such great opportunities, right off the bat.
