In 2005 the Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre commissioned a unique version of the iconic 1930’s Anglepoise desk lamp that was used by Dahl in his studio. The lamp was to be produced three times the original size, being scaled up to befit the size of Dahl’s favourite character, the BFG. At the time, it was meant to be nothing more than a humorous showpiece referencing the classic lamp tightly associated with the highly imaginative novelist. However, within a year, due to overwhelming demand, the Original 1227 Giant Floor Lamp, along with a larger Giant Lamp & Pendant Collection, has become a permanent fixture amongst the Anglepoise catalogue. Beautifully crafted from high-quality components, the lamp has been designed primarily as a functional light source, with all the benefits of a conventional sized lamp just on a grander scale. With its remarkable practicality aside, purely just being in the company of this exaggerated and playful illuminated sculpture will be enough to impress you, and no doubt the legendary writer it honors. Model shown is the Original 1227 Giant Brass Floor Lamp in Elephant Grey. #meandmybentley
