Friday Night Liberty, happening on May 1st from 5-9 p.m., is the San Diego’s biggest open gallery night, where you can meet working artists, visit museums and galleries for free. Don’t miss all the free performance from some of San Diego’s premiere dance companies at San Diego’s newest cultural mecca at NTC at Liberty Station.

During this Friday Night Liberty you can enjoy the New Americans Museum premiere of Becoming All-American: Diversity, Inclusion & Breaking Barriers in Major League Baseball. Stop by Casa Valencia Galeria to see New Contemporaries, a look at the winners of the 2015 SD Art Prize. San Diego Watercolor Society hosts an annual Military Family exhibit showcasing the works by kids and parents as part of their outreach program. See Malashock Dance perform excerpts from upcoming performance SNAKESKIN and see the new exhibit in Dance Place San Diego. Shop the auction of local artist/playwright Richard Addesso, proceeds will benefit NTC’s Liberty School, which provides arts education for at-risk youth program.

An unprecedented opportunity for San Diego was the creation of NTC at Liberty Station —  a significant new flagship destination for arts, culture, science and technology at the former Naval Training Center in Point Loma.

The NTC Foundation was established in the year 2000 to renovate this signature community asset and transform it into a place where “Innovative Experiences” will inspire the lives for generations to come. NTC at Liberty Station will be an engaging 28 acre creative district brimming with innovation, collaboration and celebration in an historic setting at Liberty Station.

San Diego’s creative destination aims to showcase, advance, and strengthen our Creative Community by providing a home to hundreds of San Diego’s most innovative and creative arts, science, culture and technology organizations.The collaborate nature of the setting, combined with extraordinary tenant benefits, will provide a place where ideas are born and resident companies create, innovate, demonstrate, exhibit, train and teach. It will provide a festive outdoor, sun-filled gathering place and a new source of civic pride for generations of San Diego residents, families, students, tourists, business travelers, and scholars. NTC at Liberty Station will be a place to explore, experience, engage and enjoy! It will restore 26 historic architecturally significant buildings on 28 park-like acres to their original Spanish Colonial Revival-style splendor all in a central San Diego location on the Bay with unparalleled views and a tranquil naturally beautiful setting. It will honor, respect and highlight the Naval Training Center’s rich and life-transforming past while building for the future.

With 28 acres of beautifully renovated Spanish Revival architecture, NTC at Liberty Station is a new landmark showcasing San Diego’s creative community, and offering state-of-the-art venues for indoor or outdoor events, parties, seminars, retreats, and meetings. NTC resident groups include dance companies, theater companies, martial arts, educational groups, multi-disciplinary arts, and Museums & Galleries. Open seven days a week, NTC at Liberty Station offers dozens of hands-on classes held weekly and provides a plethora of programs with something for everyone.

The NTC Foundation, a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, is charged with the preservation and renovation of 26 historic buildings the former Naval Training Center in the Point Loma area of San Diego, California. The Foundation is responsible for the creation of a civic, arts and cultural center to occupy the renovated buildings. Strategic planning of the NTC at Liberty Station is guided by insight gained from public meetings, community roundtables and focus groups. Overall responsibility lies with the NTC Foundation’s Board of Directors.
