Periyar University was established in the year 1997 by Tamilnadu Goverment at Salem. The University covers the area comprising the districts of Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri. It has been recognized by UGC and accredited by NAAC with B+ grade. The university has been named after the great social reformer Thanthai Periyar. To extend its reach to the people who don't have access to higher education or can't join a course because of different circumstances, Periyar University started Periyar Institute of Distance Education (PRIDE) in the year 2001. As of now there are 54 PCP centers throughout the country that the university runs to teach students. All PCP centers run by Periyar University has well qualified faculty members. The study material is given in advance to all students who enrolled into Periyar University distance education courses. The university also offer off campus regular courses through Periyar University started Periyar Institute of Distance Education (PRIDE).

Specialization can be chosen in 3rd semester. The final semester i.e 4th semester consist of a project & viva voice of 300 marks.
Syllabus
There are 6-6 subjects in first and second semester. all of those subjects are mandatory. In 3rd semester there are 3 compulsory subjects and one elective that has to be chosen from 5 electives mentioned above.
Fourth semester has a project & Viva-Voce. Each subject is of 100 marks and minimum marks to pass the subject is 50.

Admission Through Post
For direct admissions students can visit a nearest study center and can obtain an application form. Students are required to fill the application form and attach the required documents as mentioned by the university.
Apart from this students are also required to submit two demand drafts, One in favour of the director PRIDE Payable at Salem towards the tuition fees and admission fees (share of the university). Another Demand Draft in favour of the Co-ordinator of the Study Centre concerned payable at their place towards study centre fee (for details refer the fee structure).
Kindly note fee can only be paid in the form of demand draft. Never submit cash in any circumstances.
Fee Structure
The total fee of the program is INR 16750. The first year fee is INR 8715 & second year fee is INR 8000.

As we mentioned above you have to make two DD for fee. Also remember never submit the fee in the form of cash.
The identity card and study materials shall be issued to the candidates through the study centres only. The PCP classes will also be conducted the the study center only in which candidate has enrolled.
