Korean actress Jun Ji-hyun of the hit Korean drama “My Love from the Star” bagged the Daesang, or Grand Prize, for television in the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards held on May 27 in Seoul.
Actor Song Kang-ho, on the other hand, took home the Grand Prize in the film category for “The Attorney,” the 2013 hit Korean movie which earned 82.88 billion won (P3.54 billion) at the box office.
In the TV category, the medical drama “Good Doctor” won as Best Drama, edging out “My Love from the Star,” “I Hear Your Voice,” “Secret Love Affair” and “Reply 1994.”
Cho Jae-hyun won as best actor for the period drama “Jong Do-jeon” over Kim Soo Hyun of “My Love from the Star,” Yoo Ah In of “Secret Love Affair,” Joo Won of “Good Doctor” and Lee Jong Suk of “I Hear Your Voice.”
Lee Boyoung grabbed the best actress trophy for “I Hear Your Voice.” Other nominees were Go Ara of “Reply 1994,” Kim Hye Soo of “Queen of the Office,” Kim Ji Soo of “Kind Words” and Jun Ji-hyun.
The best director award went to Ahn Pan-suk of “Secret Love Affair.”
Jung Woo of “Reply 1994″ won as best new actor and Baek Jin-hee of “Empress Qi” won as best new actress.
“My Destiny,” the original soundtrack of “My Love from the Star” and sung by Lyn, won as best song.
Park Shin-hye won as most popular actress in a drama for “The Heirs” while Kim Soo Hyun won as most popular actor in a drama for “My Love from the Star.”
In the film category, “The Attorney,” which starred Song Kang-ho, Kim Young-ae, Im Siwan of boy band ZE:A, Oh Dal-su and Kwak Do-won, won as best picture.
Sol Kyung-gu won as best actor for “Wish” while Shim Eun-kyung won as best actress for “Miss Granny.”
The best director trophy was awarded to Boon Joon-ho for “Snowpiercer.”
Lee Jung Jae won as best supporting actor for “The Face Reader” while Jin Kyung bagged the best supporting actress award for “Cold Eyes.”
Kim Soo Hyun grabbed the best new actor award for “Secretly, Greatly” while Kim Hyang-ki won as best new actress for “Elegant Lies.”
Yang Woo-seok won as best new director for “The Attorney.”
Yuri of Girls’ Generation won as most popular actress in a movie for “No Breathing,” which was shot in the Philippines.
Kim Soo Hyun won as most popular actor in a movie for “Secretly, Greatly.”
