Fille Cayetano was glowing during her baby shower in Taguig last July 3, to celebrate the arrival of their baby daughter, her second child with husband, director, businessman, and former Taguig Congressman Lino Cayetano.

Fille confessed that carrying their baby daughter is different than when she was pregnant with their son, Ino Philip Cayetano, or Ino, their first born. “First trimester ko, nag-bed rest ako. I bled a little. But after that, okay na ako.” By her fourth and fifth month, she was doing pre-natal exercises. She was delighted that this time around, she experienced no morning sickness at all, and she hardly felt dizzy.

BLOOMING. Fille Cayetano is excited to meet her future daughter. Due to give birth by the second week of August, Fille hopes that she’ll be more relaxed this time with caring for her newborn. /mb.com.ph

She adds that during her first pregnancy, her cravings would be filled with fast food, steak, and all meat, and perhaps all that made her gain 50 pounds. “I’m more careful with how I eat now, because before, I’d just eat and eat and eat! Dati kasi hindi ko pa alam kung paano kumain ng maayos. Ngayon gusto ko mga salad (I didn’t know how to eat right; now I want salad)!” she says, laughing. At eight months pregnant, Fille says that their baby daughter is much smaller than when she was carrying Ino, and she’s been able to keep her weight at bay. She adds, “And naglilihi ako sa makeup. As in gusto ko ng mga pretty things. Baka kasi hormones lang talaga!”

Due to give birth by the second week of August, Fille hopes that she’ll be more relaxed with caring for her newborn. “We’re happy and excited to see her, but at the same time, anxious, because I know what’s it like to be sleepless and breastfeeding every two hours. I had a difficult time with Ino because he didn’t latch. Of course, I didn’t know anything.  Ate Pia (Cayetano) gave me a breast pump, and it really helped. I hope that things will be easier this time. We have everything almost ready already, as the house is still babyproof, and I set aside Ino’s things because I knew I’d use them again.”

Fille, who also playfully calls herself a “MamAthlete,” narrates that she also hopes that she’ll be able to get back to fighting form as soon as the baby is born and when she’s given the go-signal by her doctor. She says that five weeks after giving birth to Ino, she was already doing exercises at home, and when she was already strong enough, she would train at night. “The whole morning, I was at home taking care of my baby. At night, when he was asleep, I’d train. That really worked out for me.” When asked on how she thinks it will be like after she gives birth to baby number two, she laughs and replies, “I guess that’s the challenge! But I think it will inspire me more, and motivate me more to come back and even stronger. I did it once na eh, so I’m confident and really motivated to do it again.”

As for the name of their daughter, Fille smiles and says that yes, they have a name already, but the big reveal will have to wait. “We’re still figuring out the spelling, but it’s going to be like Ino’s name—a combination of my name and siyempre, a name from Lino’s side.” The baby shower, presented by Aprica, a stroller brand from Japan, was indeed fit for the little princess that Fille and Lino are expecting. When they found out the sex of the baby, Fille joked to Lino that she’s going to be a Daddy’s Girl.

Lino’s love for Fille and his growing family is evident in how he dotes on them, and Fille can’t help but gush over the things that Lino does to show his affections. “Sometimes when I order food at midnight, he’d be the one to wait up so we won’t need to wake up the household. When I started covering games again, he sent me flowers. Naiyak ako. He’s been very supportive in everything I do.”

Lino is proud of his wife’s achievements and passions, and admits that if there were any traits that he wishes their daughter would have of Fille’s, he says that it would be Fille’s kindness and tenacity. “When I met Fille, she had a nine-to-five job in Meralco, she was taking her MBA, while playing professional volleyball. She’s passionate about everything she does. She’s just a really caring, loving, human being.”

He adds that Fille is “everything a mom should be,” saying that she exceeded his expectations on how she would be as a mom. “Ino’s grandmas on both sides are very hands on and malambing, and that’s what I expected also. That’s the kind of mom Fille is rin. We’re both very malambing to Ino, very hands on. As much as we can, every day, we take a walk, bring Ino to the park, or play basketball in the house. In the evenings, while Fille and I relax and watch TV, he watches his ABCs. I think the nice thing about this is that we like being together, and that Fille and I are partners in everything.” And by August, they’ll be able to add another bundle of joy to their tight knit family. “With a boy and a girl, it seems we’re complete as a family,” Fille says with a smile.
