You might probably be aware that Apple has released iOS 7.0.5. This version of iOS 7 is only available for iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C and that too only related to people in China. But that hasn’t stopped people wondering whether Evasion jailbreak has been fixed or not. Well we have the good news and that is Evasion7 jailbreak still works!
iOS 7.0.5 Jailbreak
Evasion7 jailbreak is currently the only tool that can jailbreak iOS 7. And, by jailbreak I mean the precious untethered one. Well as we are finding out Evasion jailbreak has not been patched in the latest release – iOS 7.0.5.
Apple yesterday released iOS 7.0.5 to those iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C owners. It fixes some bugs but the main thing it brings is it corrects the network provision for people in China – which to most of you living outside China is not required.
Anyways if you have downloaded iOS 7.0.5, you would be happy to know that Evasion7 jailbreaks it – although not quite directly.
Stefan Esser a.k.a i0n1c has tweeted mentioning that iOS 7.0.5 can be jailbroken using Evasion7. But the official version of Evasion that is out, does not jailbreak it. The hacker has slightly modified it to jailbreak this version.
He tweets:
Of course the #evasi0n7 binary requires a patch to accept 7.0.5 – but once you do that it works fine.
To make evasi0n work with iOS 7.0.5 one way is to patch 11B511 into 11B601 in the binary.
Ehmm btw… the patch are not hex bytes but simple ASCII iOS build numbers that need to be fixed.
Those of you who are not tech savvy should avoid updating to iOS 7.0.5, as official Evasion version has not been updated. It will be updated soon so don’t be in a rush.
It is good to know that iOS 7.0.5 has not patched the exploit for the jailbreak but the same can’t be said for iOS 7.1 beta 4.
