For the past few months I have been counting my blessings along with a great bunch of people from around the world who meet weekly all because a lady named Lizzi had the wisdom to know that expressing gratitude makes a person more fully aware of how much they have been given in life so that they can enjoy it more.  It isn’t often you have the chance to change the world, but in her own way she has.  This week Ten Things of Thankful turns 1.

Ten things I feel thankful for this week…

* The opportunity to publicly declare what it is that makes my life so happy. Thanks, TToT.

* That even though I was unable to attend a class reunion last week,  the event itself gave me the excuse to be in touch with several old friends.

* That every year my gardening skills get just a little bit better so that one day I might have an amazing yield of organic produce.

* That the weekend is bringing extended family together for celebrations.

* For peonies.

* That an unexpected perk of being an empty-nester is spare time available for reading books of my own choosing.

* I am thankful for the experience of working with a first-rate Associate Principal for the past 1.5 years.

* I’m also thankful she has been given her own school for next year, because she will be a great addition to the lives of staff and students there.  Even though I have to give her up, I am still thankful.

* For a short work week.

* For more than adequate food and shelter.  We have had to replace some electronics lately.  As the bills started adding up, my first reaction was to be a little whiney.  Then I considered the standard of living of most of the world, and I shut right up.  I have all I need.
