ISLAMABAD: Representing Pakistan in different International Science Olympiads in Vietnam, Georgia, Hong Kong and Switzerland, Pakistani understudies have won four Bronze Medals and one Honorable Mention for the nation.
Distinctive groups of understudies chose under STEM Careers Program partook in 27th International Biology Olympiad, 48th International Chemistry Olympiad, 57th International Mathematics Olympiad and 47th International Physics Olympiad, said a news discharge on Wednesday. These yearly Olympiads give pre-college science understudies from around the globe a chance to contend in tackling testing hypothetical and test science issues.
The 27th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) was facilitated by Hanoi, Vietnam from July 17-24 July, 2016. Of four understudies who took an interest from Pakistan in the occasion including Muhammad Alamgir Khan from Cadet College Hassan Abdal, Bakhtawar Ahmad from Hamza Army Public School and College, Rawalpindi and Saffa Fatima from Lahore Grammar School won Bronze Medals.
IBO group was driven by Dr Muhammad Saeed and Dr Asma Imran of NIBGE Faisalabad. The 47th International Physics Olympiad was held in Zurich, Switzerland from July 10-17, 2016. The group pioneer was Dr Shahid Qamar and representative group pioneer was Dr Amanur Rehman of PIEAS. Maimoon Siddiqui from Karachi Grammar School won a Honorable Mention among five Pakistani understudies.
The 48th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) was held in Georgia from 23 July-August 1, 2016. In IChO, Muhammad Ismail from FFC Grammar School, Mirpur Mathelo, Sindh won bronze decoration for Pakistan. The 57th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) was facilitated by Hong Kong from July 6-16 July, 2016. Six understudies took an interest from Pakistan in the occasion. IMO group was driven by Dr Sarfraz Ahmed and Dr Hani Shakir of COMSATS Lahore.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) are the joint coordinators of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Careers Program for gifted youth having professions in science, innovation, designing and arithmetic.
The commitment and diligent work of groups pioneers from home establishments including National Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE) Faisalabad, HEJ Research Institute Karachi, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Lahore and PIEAS Islamabad and individuals from STEM Careers Program at HEC in selecting and setting up these skilled understudies and giving logistic backing assumed a key part in this accomplishment.
