Nina Dobrev has recently confirmed that she’ll return to television but will there be a chance to bring her character Elena Gilbert back to life again in the eighth and final season of “The Vampire Diaries?”

Rumors suggest that Nina Dobrev reprising her role as Elena Gilbert shall depend on the missing evil sister of Sybil, a manipulative evil siren who has been creating havoc in Mystic Falls as of late.

In the previous episodes of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, the mind-controlling psychopath has been erasing and changing the memories that prevented Damon and Enzo from crawling back to their humanity.

In case Nina Dobrev returns to the show, she might possibly save Damon from Sybil’s curse of misery. Elena rising from the tomb will give Damon hope to break the curse and rekindle the love they’ve had together.

It could be recalled that in the Season 6 finale of “The Vampire Diaries” that Elena was placed under a curse and remain asleep and frozen for 60 years. The only way to bring her back is through the death of Bonnie. The spell was due to the wicked witchcraft idea of Kai in linking both Bonnie’s and Elena’s lives together.

Nevertheless, “The Vampire Diaries” showrunners devised the episode to keep the window open for Nina Dobrev’s possible return as Elena Gilbert. Even fan theories about her return are already rolling over the internet, creating and suggesting how the story will end.

Other speculations say that Nina Dobrev may return as Katherine Pierce to give the character a conclusion of either continuing to be on the side of evil or redeem herself by doing good and help her frenemies go against Sybil. Regardless of how Katherine Pierce will return, fans are excited that Nina Dobrev will be there to bring her back.

However there is one problem for the expecting fans of Nina Dobrev on “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, Sybil has already revealed the identity of her sister in the latest episode of “The Vampire Diaries.” She revealed to Stefan through his dreams who the other siren is.

It was an unbelievable surprise to know that Seline, played by Kristen Gutoskie of “Containment,” was the other siren. She ironically served as a nanny to the twin daughters of Alaric Saltzman but she has been fooling the Mystic Falls gang ever since the beginning of the latest season.

In the first episode, it was shown that a mysterious woman sneaked into Alaric’s house and slit Seline’s throat that led to her death. Then Caroline saved Seline by drinking vampire blood from her.

It was later found out that the mysterious woman was compelled by Enzo, who is currently under Sybil’s control. She wanted to kill Alaric’s Gemini twins which slowly and clearly reveals Seline’s real motive to the kids as the fourth episode unveiled her real identity.

The revelation certainly came as a big shock to viewers especially on the thought that Sybil wants to kill her sister for revenge similar to how Damon still remembers the pain and betrayal instilled by his brother, Stefan. The story of both siblings is somehow intertwined with each other.

In a recent interview, “The Vampire Diaries” executive producer Julie Plec continues to hope and woo Nina Dobrev to return to Season 8 of the TV series.

She disclosed that she is creating two sides of the story, one is with Nina Dobrev in it and the other circling only between the two brothers. She even admitted that she and the fans would deeply feel devastated if in case Nina Dobrev does not come back in the final season of the TV series.

The CW President Mark Pedowitz has also expressed his eagerness to still convince Nina Dobrev to return to the final run of the long-running vampire TV series.

One of the possible reasons why Nina Dobrev seems to be hesitant on reuniting with her “The Vampire Diaries” colleagues is her previous rough split with Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore in the show.
