Sarah Carbiener and Erica Rosbe, two writers of the adult animated TV series “Rick and Morty” on Adult Swim, hinted last month that the show could return to the small screen as early as December this year for its third season.

There are even speculations saying that “Rick and Morty” Season 3 could actually feature four episodes this year, which means that the TV series could air as early as the first week of December 2016.

The news had fans greatly excited for the long-awaited and highly anticipated Season 3 of the hit cartoon show.

But Adult Swim decided to heighten the excitement twice over by recently releasing the Halloween special “Rick and Morty: The Non-Canonical Adventures.”

While the special is a far cry from what the new episodes of “Rick and Morty” Season 3 will bring, but the stop motion animation was more than enough to further whet the appetites of fans for their favorite cartoon on TV, details the iTech Post.

The Halloween special features what Rick and Morty would do with some of the most popular movies so fans had a great time once again watching it.

A far-reaching season

While there is still no official word yet from Adult Swim or co-executive producers Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon about the possible plotline of “Rick and Morty” Season 3, reports are now saying that it would be a far-reaching season.

The third season of “Rick and Morty” shall reportedly contain extra two scenes which are a reward for fans. The show is also expected to bring back Krombopolus Michael, details Game & Guide.

In addition, the loss of Mrs. Sanchez back in Season 2 has been the best mystery for the show and that the answer would be revealed in the upcoming third season.

Although showrunners Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have yet to say anything official about Season 3 of “Rick and Morty,” their silence is probably meant to avoid spoilers from coming out.

It can be recalled that before the show premiered its Season 2 last year, at least three episodes of “Rick and Morty” already made it online, much to the disappointment of Roiland and Harmon. They may be employing a different tact this time around for Season 3.

Consistent with Mr. Poopybutthole’s projection

Mr. Poopybutthole, a fan-favorite character in “Rick and Morty” said last year that Season 3 of the TV series shall come exactly one year and a half after the Season 2 finale.

It seems that the December release of Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” is true to the promise of Mr. Poopybutthole. Picking up from the cliffhanger of the Season 2 finale, the Season 3 will focus on Morty trying to help out his uncle Rick from detention in an intergalactic prison.

There are also reports stating that “Rick and Morty” Season 3 shall have four exciting episodes when it premieres this December.

If and when “Rick and Morty” Season 3 airs in December, it would indeed be a great year-end treat for the fans of the adult animated TV series especially if the show stays true to its promise of another great adventure for Rick and Morty.

Although it is a laugh-a-second TV series, there are reports saying that the third season of “Rick and Morty” shall be more dramatic as couple Jerry and Beth will reportedly be filing for divorce.

Accordingly, Season 3 of the TV show is going to follow a dramatic storyline because it will focus more on the relationship of the lead characters. Thus, the speculations about the relationship of Jerry and Beth getting tested in the upcoming third season started swirling around.
