American developer Rockstar Games has yet to make an official announcement or statement regarding the release date of its open world Western action-adventure video game “Red Dead Redemption 2” but rumors are rife that it would finally happen in the fall of next year.

In addition, there are also speculations saying that the game would feature seven main characters which is probably the reason why the game shall have both a single and multiplayer story mode, notes the University Herald.

Some gamers who were able to see or test play the demo of the game recently said “Red Dead Redemption 2” is like the cowboy version of “Grand Theft Auto,” which is the most popular gaming franchise of Rockstar Games to date.

The game shall also see players riding a horse, shoot on horseback, and riding heavily in the open desert as it takes place in the Old West, brimming with cowboys, cattle, and shanty towns filled with chaotic bars and bustling general stores.

The narrative of the trailer also quoted an old cowboy telling the playable character that when the time comes, he also needs to run and never to look back because it is over.

More playable characters good for the game

The visual is then followed by the visual of seven men on horseback, the same gang found in the artwork of “Red Dead Redemption 2.” John Marston, the main protagonist of the previous game, could be one of them.

Critics are saying that it would really be fantastic to have so many playable characters in “Red Dead Redemption 2,” each with their own unique traits and skills at the gamers’ disposal. It is going to be good for the gamers and the game as well.

There were previous rumors saying that “Red Dead Redemption 2” is going to be a prequel of “Red Dead Redemption.” If that is to be the case, then the appearance of John Marston is unlikely. Thus, the latest rumors seem to suggest that the upcoming game is not going to be a prequel of the original game.

Based on its synopsis, Rockstar Games describes “Red Dead Redemption 2” as an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland featuring the game’s vast and atmospheric world which will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience, details Trusted Reviews.

Potential locations for the game

Incidentally, a recent leak seemed to provide the map for the forthcoming “Red Dead Redemption 2.” The image was posted to NeoGAF before being taken down quickly, but not before being screengrabbed and shared all over the place in social media.

A closer look at the map reveals Great Plains and multiple Caravan camps as potential locations that players would be visiting.

Late in September, there were rumors saying that “Red Dead Redemption 2” would no longer come out this year or next year but most likely in 2018.

According to the speculations, game developer Rockstar Games has decided to push back the release of “Red Dead Redemption 2” to 2018 because it apparently wanted to make sure that the game is capable of supporting virtual reality (VR) technology by then.

However, some critics argued that it would be foolish for Rockstar to release two franchise games in the same year considering that the sixth installment of its highly-anticipated and very popular “GTA” franchise shall reportedly be coming out in 2018 as well.

But it seems that things have once again turned around in the rumor mills and the speculations are now pointing to the possibility of “Red Dead Redemption 2” coming out next year.

The notion was further bolstered on October 12 when Rockstar Games re-released the “Red Dead Revolver” on the PlayStation 4, and is now available for download via the PlayStation Store at a price of $14.99.
