There will be two major resurrections when the American crime drama TV series “Prison Break” returns to Fox next year for its fifth season.

The first one, of course, is the TV show itself which got a new lease on life after ending in Season 4 back in 2009. It took seven years for the producers to finally decide to give “Prison Break” a fifth season, which some might have branded the TV series as a reboot.

However, that cannot be said of the TV series since it shall be a continuation of the events that transpired after the Season 4 finale.

And the second important resurrection is the return of Michael Scofield, played by actor Wentworth Miller. This was already confirmed with the upcoming fifth season of the once very popular TV series was aired early last week.

While he was not featured exactly during the teaser trailer, it was shown that his son was asking his mother Dr. Sara Tancredi, played by Sarah Wayne Callies, about how his real father like. Sarah then replied that his father Michael is like a storm that suddenly appears to come out of nowhere and also disappears just as quickly, details the Vine Report.

Critics believe that it is an allusion of how Michael Scofield has come and will come back to their lives.

There is also a scene featuring Michael’s brother Lincoln Burrows, played by Dominic Purcell being told by Theodore ‘T-Bag’ Bagwell, played by Robert Knepper that his brother might just be alive even showing to Lincoln an illustration of Michael inside the prison.

Lincoln then shares the news to Sara who said that she really wanted it to be true but she is having reservations and not keep her hopes high. He then said that there is only one way to find out, before packing his bags and taking a trip to a jail in prison.

Not without its main man

Simply put, the producers and the showrunners probably thought that “Prison Break” will not be running on empty and thus cannot afford to air without its main man. So somewhere along the production that has already begun in Vancouver, Canada, the writers have done everything in their powers to make sure that Michael Scofield will return in one piece for Season 5.

According to reports, the showrunners will endeavor to feature in the upcoming fifth season of “Prison Break” that the show itself has grown better with age.

Most of the characters of the TV series have grown to become cult-hero in TV and the good news is that all of them are coming back for a big shot at resurrecting the series.

“Prison Break” debuted on Fox to superb ratings and critics review in August 2005. The first two seasons of the TV series were as good as anything modern-day TV had to offer. For the stunning initial prison break to the heart-pounding chase for total freedom, it was as good as anyone can get on a captivating TV series.

However, the final two years of “Prison Break” could not quite capture the initial magic of the show, as if the show and its plotline have suddenly lost steam. Still, there were quite a number of incredible moments that offered hope for the show’s return. And seven years later, the return of “Prison Break” is now a reality and the showrunners will surely be building on that special opportunity.

Waiting a lot longer

The trailer of “Prison Break” was the first for the TV show after seven years and it looks like the waiting for the fans would be a few months more as the reports all point to the fact that the TV series will premiere on Fox next year.

There has been no specific date in 2017 when the show will air based on the recent announcement of Fox but speculations are rife that “Prison Break” Season 5 is going to happen in the spring of next year, which means that the show is about one year from now from airing.

Many fans and critics were speculating and wishing that the show airs in the fall of this year but it looks unlikely to happen, notes Melty.
