It’s been a while since fans have last heard new music from Katy Perry. However, it looks like she’s making a return to the music scene and she’s doing it in the most clever way possible.

The rumor mill started that the 32-year-old singer is about to release a brand new music when she debuted her new blonde do earlier this week.

Her new hair hue comes after she was spotted with an orange-tinged hair color during the recent Women’s March, obviously mocking President Donald Trump. Perry was a known supporter of Hilary Clinton during the last US presidential elections.

The “California Gurls” singer shared a photo of herself on Instagram showing her blonde hair and teasing the release of her anticipated fifth studio album.

A day after she debuted her new look, Perry started tweeting a cryptic video of herself walking in sparkly stilettos with a disco ball chained to her ankle. Her caption states that she will be releasing her new single on Friday, February 10.

The next day, some fans were treated to a surprise when disco balls, locked up to park benches, sign posts, and other fixtures in public places began popping around the world.

The disco balls apparently double as MP3 players that contain Katy’s new track titled “Chained to the Rythmn.” E! News reports that the track was produced by Max Martini and Sia and is the first single of her new album.

Katy further teased her fans by tweeting another video in which she plugs her earphones into the disco ball and the video zooms to her finger nails and reads “Find Me.”

Fans have since then snapped and shared photos and videos of the disco balls they have found with the singer retweeting as many as she can. She also encouraged her fans to tweet their funniest reactions to her new single.

On Perry’s website, a map shows the exact location of each installation, making it easier for fans to find the objects and plug in their earphones and listen to the song before its release. It’s expected that Katy will drop more details about her upcoming album in the next few weeks.

As early as May last year, the “Teenage Dream” hitmaker has been vocal that she is indeed working on new music, a follow up to her 2013 studio album “Prism.”

The album earned Perry a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. It includes hits such as “Roar,” “Birthday,” and “Unconditionally.” She followed the album with the Prismatic world tour.

Fans were able to hear new music from her when she offered a song for the 2016 Summer Olympics titled “Rise.” She also performed a medley of her hits during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2015, which was dubbed as the most-watched Super Bowl halftime performance in history.

Her performance welcomed special appearances from Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott. Guiness World Records said that the pop singer’s performance garnered 118.5 million viewers in the United States.

In August, Katy said that she’s not rushing to create another album and that she aspires to make material that connects, relates, and inspires people. She added that she’s experimenting on different collaborations for her next studio album.

Aside from her upcoming studio album, the “Fireworks” singer is also set to take center stage for a performance at the 2017 Grammy Awards.

The 59th annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 12 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It will be hosted by James Corden, who will host the ceremony for the first time.
