With Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue right around the corner, the fans are waiting for official news on Kingdom Hearts 3. Games N Guide reported that the fans might have to wait for Kingdom Hearts 3 a little longer than expected.

It has been a long wait for the fans. Kingdom Hearts 2 released way back in 2005 and ever since then they have waited for some news from Square Enix and Disney Interactive Studios. Kingdom Heart 3 was announced back at E3 2013.

However, game director Tetsuya Nomura later informed that the decision to announce Kingdom Hearts 3 in 2013 wasn’t a good one, given the status of the project. Nomura made it clear that even though the fans are interested in an early, Square Enix wouldn’t release the game unless perfected.

Square Enix kept on working on spin-off titles of Kingdom Hearts instead of the one that the fans were waiting for, thereby upsetting the fans. The developers announced Kingdom Hearts 3 along with Final Fantasy XV to pacify them.

Square Enix might have announced Kingdom Hearts 3, but fans are aware that Final Fantasy XV is their primary focus. Nomura couldn’t start work on Kingdom Hearts 3 since he was working on Final Fantasy XV.

Shinji Hashimoto, the producer, revealed that there is going to be a gap between the release of the two games since they want the quality for each to be perfect.

Over the course of three years, Square Enix hasn’t updated any information on the status of the game. The fans are losing their patience and a recent post on Kingdom Hearts 3 on Reddit, saw the community pour their frustration out. Many believed that eleven years is a long time for the developers to come out with the sequel to Kingdom Hearts 2.

The listing for Kingdom Heart 3 had vanished from the Japanese Xbox One website. The realization caused quite a bit of panic among the fans. Many believed that Kingdom Hearts 3 would be exclusive to the PlayStation 4.

The listing for the game on the Square Enix website shows Xbox One; hence the fans can rest assured. The absence of Kingdom Hearts 3 from Xbox One listing might be a glitch on the part of the website and would soon be rectified.

Square Enix had announced Kingdome Hearts 3’s release on both PlayStation and Xbox One. If they had made any changes, the developers would have announced it officially and updated the information on their website. The Japanese site has rectified the mistake and apologized to the fans for the same.

Rumors suggest that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be available on the PC and Nintendo NX.

While the fans wait for an update on Kingdom Hearts 3, there’s speculation that Kairi might be a playable character in the upcoming game. The players had expected Kairi to be a playable character in Kingdom Hearts 2 since she was shown wielding a Keyblade.

Kairi was part of the franchise ever since the first installment. Sora always had a soft corner for her, but since she had her eyes on Riku, this created a sort of rivalry between the two. Sora would compete with Riku to win Kairi’s affections.

Kairi appeared as one of the Princesses of Hearts in Kingdom Hearts. Sora went all out to save her from the Heartless and Ansem. Rumor suggests that Kairi might inherit Aqua’s Keyblade as the trailer shows her touching it.

Kingdom Heart 2.8 is going to throw light on Aqua’s character. She is the first woman Keyblade holder.
