“Jurassic World 2” has been confirmed to be released to theaters on June 22, 2018, some three years after “Jurassic World” came out and went on to become the fourth highest grossing movie of all time.

On January 26, or about 17 months before the movie hits theaters, Director JA Bayona made an image tease of “Jurassic World 2” on his Twitter account featuring several hard hats with the “Jurassic World” logo on it.

He captioned his post by saying that he was already getting ready for the journey which meant the production would be happening very soon. It has previously reported that filming for “Jurassic World 2” would begin this month.

At first glance, the images on the hard hat look like the familiar “Jurassic Park” and “Jurassic World” logo, but its slight differences might have a lot to say about the plot of “Jurassic World 2.”

Trevorrow has said that “Jurassic World 2” will investigate dinosaurs being used as weapons and that it will go beyond the islands.

The sequel will explore how dinosaurs and the attendant genetic technology will impact different facets of the world. And so the first image, with its logo, indicates just how divorced the new dinosaurs are from the consumer-facing, zoological attractions that fans and critics have come to expect in the series.

There is also a possibility that there will be the expansive ‘Dinosaur Inc.’ that inserts dinosaurs into every aspect of the economy, details the iDigital Times.

Casting is almost complete

Director JA Bayona and co-writer Colin Trevorrow, who directed the first film, have said little about the plot, but a great deal about the themes.

And aside from returning characters Claire Dearing, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, Owen Grady, played by Chris Pratt, and Dr. Henry Wu, played by BD Wong, the only “Jurassic World 2” cast additions that have been confirmed are Rafe Spall, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith and Toby Jones.

In a recent interview, Trevorrow revealed that the franchise seems done with the staple of theme parks and even people getting chased by dinosaurs on an island. As the premise has been pursued four times to date, notes the Den of Geek.

He also elaborated that in the familiar formula’s place, he likes the idea of escalation in dinosaur genetic testing, and the potential applications various corporations or even governments might have for it.

Trevorrow stated that it is not always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for the science that reach far beyond entertainment.

An emotional focal point

He also explained how Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire will apparently be the emotional focal point of the budding trilogy since fans will see the world evolve in relation to the animals and the kind of science through her eyes.

Bryce Dallas Howard seemed to have validated the statement of Colin Trevorrow about her character in the film when she said in a recent interview that Claire is a different person already in “Jurassic World 2.”

She explained that the person she was at the end of the first movie is not the person she was in the beginning. Her armor of sorts was that white, pristine outfit with heels in a very corporate environment and stuff, and the chick at the end was totally different, Howard added.

Filming is set to begin this month and Director JA Bayona said in a recent interview that the film is going to be darker.

However, he also assured fans that the movie is also going to be a lot of fun. He is optimistic that “Jurassic World 2” will also be a blockbuster since the movie shall once again feature the bankable Chris Pratt.

Bayona said that the movie is going to be a great adventure and it would be very interesting one because “Jurassic World 2” is going to be darker than the other ones, referring to “Jurassic World” and the “Jurassic Park” trilogy movies.
