The fighting role-playing game “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2” shall officially roll out to the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC on October 25 and gaming enthusiasts and critics who were able to have the opportunity to test-play the game say that it is a pure and unadulterated fan service from game developer Bandai Namco.

Apart from keeping the authenticity of the brand, the game is clearly written and crafted by the fans and for the fans, reports the International Business Times of UK.

“Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2” also cut its ties with the last generation gaming consoles and optimized its semi-open world gameplay for current platforms. The game developer has likewise crafted what is apparently the largest “Dragon Ball” world ever created in the 30-year history of the franchise.

The series marked its 30th anniversary early this year and also celebrated three decades of Super Saiyans, wish-granting dragons, and power levels which have gone way beyond a paltry 9,000.

In the gameplay story, players navigate by bolting around in the air the fairly huge hub world of Conton City, which is filled with Capsule Corp references, classic characters, such as Vegeta and Piccolo, who are ready to serve the players as trainers and other characters present on the same online lobby.

The player takes on the role of a Time Patroller, an era-hopping enforcer-like role tasked with correcting anomalies along the Dragon Ball timeline.

While there is a through-line story involving a mysterious threat to the Dragon Ball-verse it will be interesting to see whether the concept has any further hidden depth beyond what gamers can remember.

A beta version before its official release

There are also reports saying that a beta version of “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2” shall be released by game developer Bandai Namco prior to the official release date of the fighting video game on the consoles and the PC, notes Game & Guide.

However, it has been also reported as of late that the beta version of “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2” shall only be made available on the PlayStation 4 and the open version of the beta shall be playable only from October 8 to 10 or a little over two weeks before its official release date.

There shall also be a closed beta version of the game and all players are allowed to play starting on October 14 to 16.

The game developer has yet to reveal the official list of characters in “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2” but some gamer fanatics claim that they have a list of all the 68 playable characters from the game’s demo-build and more characters are expected to arrive when the game officially rolls out.

The fighting characters of the game

Among the reported characters of “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2” are Villainous Omega Shenron, Time Breaker Bardock, Vegito, Beerus, Whis, Mira Towa, Janemba, Frieza (100% Final Form), Ginyu, Turles, Lord Slug, Great Saiyaman and Goku Super Saiyan (God, Blue and 4).

Also, gracing the list are Tien, Yamcha, Dodoria, Recoom, Jeice, Metal Cooler, Android (16, 17, 18), Broly, Goku GT, Gohan (Teen, Kid, Adult and future), Trunks (Kid, GT and Future), Nappa, Zarbon, Jeice, Guldo, Nail and Cell (Jr. Super, Perfect and First Form).

There are also reports saying that the characters like the Nuova, Shenron, Hercule, Videl, Rasberry, Ice Shenron, and Frieza’s first form might not be available on the “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2” initial release.

There were previous reports saying that the game shall be introducing new characters mostly. In fact, the same reports are also saying that the old characters from the predecessor game shall no longer be featured in “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2” except for Goku Black.
