While the next “Call of Duty” game coming to the gaming consoles in November is the “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare” featuring futuristic battles, also drawing attention is the remastered version of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” which shall reportedly come out around the same time.

Even before the announcement a few months ago that a remastered version of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” will be released along with the franchise’s newest title this year, the game has already appeared on the list of video games on the Xbox One backward compatibility library. But it was deleted shortly thereafter.

As a result, many Xbox One gamers have been waiting for it to reappear again in the Xbox One backward compatibility program anytime soon.

With the confirmation of the release of the remastered version of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” in November, it seems likely that the game shall no longer appear in the Xbox One backward compatibility program library because there is no longer a reason to.

Generating excitement among Xbox One gamers

However, the momentary appearance of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” on the Xbox One backward compatibility program video game list was more than enough to generate excitement to gamers for the game that originally came out in 2009.

As a matter of fact, the game is still very popular among multiplayer gaming enthusiasts and it even placed third in the recent Xbox Feedback polls garnering 150,602 votes, details the Vine Report.

There are also reports saying that the remastered version of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” shall not come out with “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare” as game publisher Activision shall be releasing first the remastered version of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.”

However, some critics and gamers are saying that they would prefer the remastered version of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” over “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” anytime and if Activision is really listening, the game publisher would heed the call of the gaming community.

The most successful entertainment launch

Although “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” is already seven years old, it is still remembered as the most successful entertainment launch of all time that even made it to the Guinness World Record, notes Cinema Blend.

So when speculations started going around that Activision is planning to release a remastered version of one of its “Call of Duty” games, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” was actually volunteered by its thousands of fans.

In fact, there was even a petition initiated at Change.org asking Activision to release the remastered version of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.” As of last month, the petition has already generated more than 55,000 signatures from gamers.

Ramez Zhara, the Australian gamer who initiated the petition at Change.org, stated that every “Call of Duty” gamer knows that “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” is the best game in the franchise ever.

He describes the game as fun, enjoyable and also gives gamers that nostalgic feeling. He also said that the guns, maps, and kill streaks in the game are just incredible and having a remastered version of the game for the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and the PC, as well as for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, Activision would certainly make a lot of people happy.

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2,” the sixth game in the “Call of Duty” first-person shooter video game franchise, was released worldwide in November 2009.

It is a direct sequel to “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” and continuing the same storyline. In fact, while in development, it was being referred to as “Call of Duty 6.”

Game developer Infinity Ward was inspired by real-life conflicts during the development of the campaign mode of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.” The campaign follows the Task Force 141, a special forces unit led by Captain Soap MacTavish and the United States Army Rangers as they hunt Vladimir Makarov, leader of the Russian Ultranationalist party.
