Season 11 of the long-running American crime procedural drama TV series “Bones” on Fox is currently on its mid-season hiatus and will be back on the small screen on April 14 yet.

But Fox already made an announcement recently that was both a good and bad news for the fans of the TV show.

Fox Co-Chairperson Dana Walden and Gary Newman announced that “Bones” has been renewed for Season 12 which will air late this year. That is the good news.

The bad news for the loyal fans of the TV series is that Season 12 has been shortened with only 12 episodes and it is going to be the last and final season for “Bones.”

However, it is still better compared to previous reports that Season 11 was going to be the last for the TV series as it will no longer be renewed by Fox for a Season 12. So fans, as well as the production crew and cast members would really take the deal of Fox any day of the week, maybe twice on Sunday.

Meaningful and satisfying conclusion

In a statement following the renewal of “Bones” for Season 12 recently, Walden and Newman said that the network has decided to renew the long-running procedural for a 12th and final season in order to allow the show producers to map out for “Bones” a meaningful and satisfying conclusion, notes Return Dates.

Showrunners Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson, in a joint statement, said that they could not be more thrilled to have another season for “Bones” to give the show, the characters, and the fans the end that they so richly deserve.

They added that knowing that there is going to be a Season 12, they can already write a most rewarding Season 11 finale episode, which they hope fans of “Bones” will be really excited about for what is to come in the 12th and final season of the TV series.

Episode 10 of Season 11 of “Bones” was aired on December 11 yet so the show has been on its hiatus for nearly four months already and fans can hardly wait for the episode 11 to air on April 14.

Picking up from the dramatic events of the fall finale

“Bones” will pick up from the dramatic events of its fall finale on December 10 with its episode 10 entitled “The Doom in the Boom.”

The upcoming episode 11 entitled “The Death in the Defense” will see Jack Hodgins, played by TJ Thyne, already eight weeks into rehabilitation after the explosion during the fall finale put him into a wheelchair.

The episode will also see Temperance “Bones” Brennan, played by Emily Deschanel, and Seely Booth, played by David Boreanaz, work on investigating the death of a public defender with multiple past defendants with motives to kill her.

The 11th episode will see Hodgins undergoing a painful recuperation period considering that he is someone who is full of life. He is also not the type who would like to be confined in a wheelchair for a long time because he will obviously consider it as a fate worse than death.

In an interview last December, Thyne said that the second half “Bones” will be the toughest for his character. He said Hodgins would be in denial at first but it would slowly sink in to him that he might never walk again.

The actor added that would be the phase in his character where he will undergo the stages of grief.

Dr. Jack was previously known to be a cheerful person. But after the accident, he will be angry and frustrated at the drop of a hat.
