Robert Warren Alexander, 79, of Pentwater, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016, at his home.  He was born March 11, 1937, in Ferry Township, Michigan to Acie and Mildred (Bates) Alexander.   Bob was a graduate of Shelby High School Class of 1955. He also attended Muskegon Community College, while serving his Mortuary Science Apprenticeship at the Pachesny Funeral Home. Then, in 1961, he graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago and received his Michigan Funeral Directors License. While in Chicago, he was active in the Delta Pi Epsilon Fraternity. After obtaining his Michigan Funeral Directors License, he was employed at funeral homes in Midland, Clio and had managed the Thompson Funeral Home in Paw Paw, Michigan, until he and his family moved to Ludington in 1966 and joined the staff of the Rye Funeral Home. He became the sole owner of the Rye Funeral Home following the death of Mr. James A. Rye in 1972. The business name was changed to the Alexander-Rye Funeral Home, Inc.
