Hi everybody! Masks, menaces... etc. etc. & in between. Anyway, gabbie here with some tough but long-coming news for y'all.
This month I will be stepping down as a mod for Mask or Menace. When I say "long-coming" I really mean it; based on what my health and work situation(s) have been like this is, in fact, probably an overdue announcement! I was loathe, however, to step down sooner before proper arrangements were underway and we could get a few more hands on deck (interested? There's still time to apply!), since I would never leave my lovely co-mods and this great game, that's been such a huge part of my life for the past however long it's been, short-staffed or otherwise unprepared.
There's so much I could say right now I hardly know where to begin. I've been a moderator here since the beginning (and at C&C before that for I-don't-remember-how-long); I helped develop Mask or Menace! from the ground up alongside current moderator Sara (noematic) and then-moderator Nita (erewhile), but for all the time and hard work involved I couldn't have asked to do it for a better game, a more supportive and hard-working modteam -- old and new, which means Fey, Emilee, and Jaina too ♥ -- or a more engaged, excited, and encouraging playerbase. Modding is far from easy, but having such a strong team at my side and such warm players who aren't shy about showing their appreciation and enthusiasm as new plots or events develop has really made it such a worthwhile experience.
... I should just close with "what a long, strange trip it's been" and be done with it, otherwise I'll be here all day. Suffice it to say, what a long, strange trip it's been, and I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. I'll be easing off the team throughout the rest of the month in order to wrap up some behind-the-scenes business and to allow for the new mods to be chosen, and will ideally officially step down all the way by June 1st or sooner. Obviously I will not be around in "full capacity" as a mod between now and then, so while we thank everyone very much for their patience thus far during this transitional period, I ask that you please bear with us a little while longer, and don't be too hard on the rest of the staff for things still taking a bit longer than usual.
All that said, I also unfortunately decided to drop Jyushimatsu due to my aforementioned time and health constraints, but I'll still be around as a player with Reggie Mantle (mantlepieces) and on plurk at osborns! Thanks, everyone, for reading all this and for sticking with me!!
