**Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, the Manager, Public Relations is responsible for assisting with the development and management of market-based public relations initiatives for multiple Global Lodging Brands.

This specific position leads public relations efforts for two brands, and supports at various degrees other brands, as needed.

This position is responsible for a range of public relations initiatives and activations related to the assigned Brands, including media relations, local property public relations program consulting, publicity generation, media tours, special event management, public relations activities in conjunction with trade shows and hotel grand openings, and business writing (e.g., newsletters, speeches, video and audio scripts, press releases, fact sheets). This position is also responsible for the development and implementation of brand-related and customer segment-related public relations programs. This position is responsible for the global development and implementation of public relations programs in support of the brands and marketing teams. This position will liaison closely with the brand marketing teams as well as with the teams within the Global Communications department including Global Corporate Relations, Internal Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility and Government Affairs.

This position is also in charge of managing multiple agencies (public relations, social media, legal, promotions, etc.) for all brands, as well as managing other associates on specific projects and initiatives.

The position’s goals include: Build assigned Marriott Lodging Brand Public Relations network, leverage Public Relations at the market level, drive brand preference, generate revenue, add value to owner/franchisee relations, and increase local and national public awareness for Marriott’s involvement in the community and its economic impact in major markets.

**Contributions

Working with minimal supervision, this position is responsible for the following:

MEDIA/SOCIAL MEDIA RELATIONS

* Develops and implements media/blogger relations programs targeted to a variety of media, including trade, consumer travel and lifestyle, as well as national outlets, and publicity programs;

* Aggressive media/blogger outreach to major consumer, business and trade outlets, as well as blogs, television and radio, to generate consumer awareness on behalf of assigned Brands.

* Lead crisis/reputation management efforts on behalf of brands when necessary.

* Develop various press materials, including press releases and speeches, in addition to brand PR toolkits.

PR MANAGEMENT & EXCUTION

* Implements annual public relations plan, including social media, for assigned Brands.

* Supports development of PR strategies for assigned brands according to their goals and objectives.

* Represent brand and present programs and strategies during webinars, meetings and other organizational activities to various disciplines and groups throughout the organization, as well as externally.

* Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results. Directs work of non-management staff and agencies.

* Develops integrated, strategic public relations tools (e.g., manuals, training modules, newsletters) for field use that support and elevate the level of public relations activity among Marriott''s lodging brands.

* Manage multiple agencies (PR, social, legal) to ensure the success and alignment of all initiatives.

* Work cross-functionally with internal disciplines and departments (including Brand, Marketing, Legal, Operations, Development, A&C;, F&B;, etc.) throughout the organization to enhance, develop and maintain PR programs and strategies.

* Create reports for presentation to stakeholders, including franchise advisory committees and system marketing fund committees.

* Provide public relations support and input at major regional, market, or brand meetings.

* Fully integrate Market Public Relations with Field Marketing and Marketing Communications.

* Collaborates with the Global Public Relations team members in developing ongoing internal publicity for brands, and global public relations programs in support of the leisure travel market.

* Independently responds to, solves and makes decisions on PR programs and initiatives.

* Provides strategic support and tactical execution to further the company’s diversity goals, such as outreach to LGBT, women-focused consumers and other diversity angles, as well as corporate social responsibility into PR plans for brands.

* Manage program budgets and scopes for PR initiatives.

EVENTS

* Lead various PR initiatives and programs for assigned brands, and collaborate with team members in support for their brands within the portfolio.

* Manage brand/region events, such as openings, press conferences, off-property events, conferences and media tours.

* Act as brand representative and spokesperson internally within the organization and at external events.

* Manage market pull-through on company initiatives, news and brand messaging.

* Increase awareness of brands internally, by creating internal communications, managing internal events, and working with internal stakeholders and their various communication channels.

Specific Job Duties

* Day-to-day oversight of brand public relations initiatives for designated brands: −Execute strategic brand public relations plan, including integration of traditional media and social media, to increase awareness, consideration and preference for consumers, associates and hotel owners and franchisees.

−Oversee and manage execution of the brand’s strategic PR plan, including managing internal stakeholders, events and agency.

−Increasing coverage for brands in traditional media (e.g., print, radio, broadcast) and social media (websites, blogs, Facebook, Twitter).

−Increase the popularity of and engagement on the brand’s current and emerging social media assets (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, blogs, LinkedIn).

−Oversee event management for brand activations on and off property.

−Conduct regular and ongoing meetings with key stakeholders (e.g., marketing, brand), providing strategic input related to public relations.

−Create analytical reports measuring success of PR programs against established key performance indicators for each assigned brand.

* Social media editor and community manager: −Support select social media programs for Brands.

−Create content and work with agencies and internal stakeholders in growing customer communities and engagement.

−Coordinate and support interaction of specific Brands’ social media channels with department''s other traditional and social media assets to maximize external and internal publicity.

−Provide ongoing strategic counsel concerning social media and assuming the role of subject-matter expert.

Specific Candidate Profile

* Experience −Four-year college degree, preferably with concentration in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or English

−Minimum of four years management level communications experience (experience in PR agency and/or national brand preferable)

−Knowledge of basic print production, photography, and event/media production (for project management).

−Understanding of Marriott''s business, brands, and culture.

* Skills −Strong communications skills, both verbal and written (emphasis on writing and editorial skills).

−Ability to present ideas and information in a concise, organized way.

−Outstanding interpersonal skills to effectively interact with associates at all levels within the organization and with the general public.
