POSITION SUMMARY

Direct daily functions of Creative team to ensure that the full range of contribution (property/product messaging, advertising/collateral design, photography, digital/multimedia, etc.) is realized, from conceptualization to final execution. Partner with clients and Marriott Creative Agency colleagues to translate business objectives into creative strategies—ensuring a consistent, compelling presentation of individual Marriott brands and portfolio across all forms of media. Create an environment where every creative contributor strives to elevate these standards over time, driving the presentation of design and copy/messaging to more engaging, more innovative heights. Serve as a key member of the Marriott Creative Agency leadership team.

· Creative Strategy : Set the creative vision, partnering with clients and colleagues to translate business objectives into innovative design and copy solutions.
· Talent Management : Inspire creative staff to perform at peak, growing their talents and advancing their contributions to the business and the Marriott brands.
· Brand Optimization : Drive differentiation of individual Marriott brands and leverage the power of the Marriott portfolio across channels and media.

Qualifications:
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
Creative Strategy
· Partner with Director, Account Management and clients to ensure the development of strategically sound briefing documents, enabling marketing communications initiatives to be scoped appropriately prior to commencement.
· Leverage business acumen and creative perspective to develop sound design/copy strategies and solutions that achieve clients’ business objectives.
· Direct the execution of all creative work including corporate identity, graphic design, copy, video, photography, direct mail, and digital/social—enhancing creative work product, assuring that deadlines are met and contributing to positive project outcomes.
· Oversee and participate in Creative staff client presentations providing multiple creative solutions and cogent supporting rationale for why/how each approach successfully delivers on the desired creative needs. Assure that client’s needs are met and creative goals are in alignment with strategy.
· Embrace and employ industry best practices to optimize creative team performance, client deliverables, customer service and teamwork.
· Stay current on creative technical advancements that aid the Marriott Creative Agency in providing customers new media creative solutions; work with Director Agency Operations to implement technology enhancements.
Talent Management
· Actively manage/mentor four supervisors and multi-disciplined creative staff, including writers, editors, proofreaders, art directors, designers, studio artists and digital asset managers.
· Successfully motivate a large and fast-paced creative team; foster a culture of excellence, creativity and results that exceed client expectations.
· Ensure that Marriott performance management practices are met, enabling the contribution and ongoing development of all associates within Creative Services.
· Inspire creative talent, challenging associates to come up with innovative, strategically sound design and copy solutions to meet business/program objectives.
· Consistently demonstrate standards of creative excellence—modeling desired performance and behaviors, recognizing individual and team accomplishments.
· Partner with Director, Agency Operations to augment existing staff with temp resources or outside creative agencies, as required for specialty projects.
Brand Optimization
· Responsible for the education and ongoing guidance of Marriott Creative Agency associates in terms of how the Marriott brands and portfolio are best represented.
· Ensure creative team compliance with brand standards to ensure a consistent presentation of materials across the marketplace.
· Encourage the integration of creative/brand strategies by building collaborative partnerships with other internal teams, including eCommerce, ISI, CorpComm., as well as outside creative agencies.
· Oversee usage of all creative assets, particularly those that are housed within the marketing photographic library, providing education and instruction to those who may be leveraging such assets outside of Marriott Creative Agency; oversee property and brand logo creation and usage.
· Proactively build relationships with key customer groups include the brand teams, global marketing leaders and other internal groups to forecast creative requirements that will drive customer alignment decisions, direct competency growth opportunities, and optimize staff resources for consistent quality support
CANDIDATE PROFILE - KEY TALENTS AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED
· An exceptional portfolio reflecting minimum of 10 years of creative/advertising success (equally strong copy and design aesthetic) with at least five years managing a creative team—preferably in an agency setting; experience supporting a global brand is desired.
· Experience with consumer brand strategy, integration and brand identity as well as experience across print and direct mail, broadcast, online/digital/social media, display and outdoor required; hospitality-industry experience is a plus.
· Proven ability to partner effectively with management colleagues (e.g. Account Management and Agency Operations) to appropriately influence cross-functional team performance and department effectiveness.
· Experience collaborating with a cross-section of traditional agency functions; ability to build open, trusting partnerships with clients and colleagues.
· Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact successfully with senior-level clients.
· Experience forecasting, resourcing, and allocating Creative staff resources within a fast-paced, agency environment.
· Demonstrated expertise with creative (project scoping/briefing, concepting, development and execution).
· Working knowledge of production (print, interactive, video, multimedia, photography) combined with expertise in creative/agency workflow and process improvement.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with design applications including CS5-InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator as well as Flash, HTML and CSS are a plus.
Education : Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing and/or fine arts required.
