JOB SUMMARY
This position manages a team responsible for the management and improvement of processes related to the establishment, maintenance and dissolution of legal entities in support of ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial information for Marriott s legal subsidiaries\. This position supports the Business Request & Entity Management \(BREM \) Committee, as well as oversees processes to manage the financial and accounting aspects of an entity over its lifecycle \(i\.e\. creation, maintenance and dissolution\)\. This position also supports other key processes, including Global Entity Reporting and Tax Governance and account reconciliation activities to ensureeffective internal controls and compliance with Sarbanes\-Oxley \(SOX \) requirements\.The senior manager works with significant independence, but within established guidelines, and produces and analyzes business, financial and legal information to support the proper establishment, maintenance and dissolution of the company s legal entities\. In addition, he/she serves as a contact for entity questions/issues for stakeholders across the organization\.
SCOPE/BUSINESS CONTEXT/EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
+ Manage a team of finance and accounting professionals, prioritize projects and workload of the team and its individual members, and establish deadlines around those priorities\.
+ Manage BREM Committee processes and ensure continued development of BREM processes, norms, and infrastructure\. Active role in ongoing BREM Committee processes, to include:
+ Tracking and management of BREM submissions and related information
+ Review of BREM submissions, including engaging with business stakeholders across the organization
+ Organize biweekly BREM Committee meetings and manage committee communications
+ Serve as a liaison with key stakeholders to vet entity management issues, provide guidance and ensure robust entity management processes are effective and mitigate risks
+ Manage and monitor entity dissolution processes in conjunction with key stakeholder groups \(Tax, CSO, Continental teams\), to include:
+ Plan and lead rollout meetings for approved dissolutions/mergers
+ Mobilize and align internal and external resources to achieve expected results
+ Influence key departments to ensure on\-time and accurate completion of dissolution activities
+ Ensure appropriate controls and measures are in place to anticipate and manage project risks
+ Assist with the research and resolution of entity set\-up, maintenance and dissolution issues, to include partnering with other stakeholder groups to ensure timely resolution of issues and effective processes/oversight going forward\.
+ Embrace and leverage Marriott s technology investments, including SharePoint, to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of relevant processes in place regarding entities and related reporting\.
+ Coordinate and maintain strong processes and internal controls over the department account reconciliation \(a\.k\.a\. Marriott International Policy MIP \-66\) reporting deliverables, internal controls and compliance with Sarbanes\-Oxley \(SOX \)
+ Oversee the processes for establishing entities for Marriott International, Inc\. to include system set\-up requests and partner with associates across various departments to manage and improve methods for establishing new entities in the enterprise systems, as well as accounting processes for existing and new entities\.
+ Ensure ongoing compliance with Global Entity Reporting and Tax \(GERT\) Governance framework deliverables, ensuring timely communication and information exchange to help ensure the accuracy and completeness of the company s consolidated tax reporting\.
+ Participate in department wide projects and goals\.
+ Perform other duties as assigned\.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Experience
+ Eight or more years of progressive job experience in accounting/finance field, including experience managing others\.
+ Experience with complex accounting environment to include multiple subsidiaries, currencies and basis of accounting\.
+ Proven manager with ability to lead a team toward the accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives and promote a positive working environment with focus on development of team members\.
Education or Certification
+ BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
+ CPA, CMA or MBA preferred
