**JOB SUMMARY**
Assists the Director of Human Resources in executing strategies that serve to attract, retain, and develop diverse premiere talent. Position directs and works with HR associates to carry out the daily activities of the Human Resources Office including recruitment, total compensation, associate relations, and training & development. Executes against objectives outlined in the Human Resource Business Plan and the sites MBO’s and delivers HR services that meet or exceed the needs of associates and enable business success; ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations and Marriott International operating procedures.

**CANDIDATE PROFILE**

**Education and Experience **

* 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 4 years experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.
OR

* 4-year bachelor''s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 years experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.
* Completion of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) Body of Knowledge Certification Program or the Human Resources Certification Institute (PHR or SPHR) Certification preferred.
* Previous Position Requirements: Human Resources management experience with knowledge of Marriott’s Human Resources policies and procedures; OR call center management with appropriate training preferred.
* Strong knowledge of labor relations and labor laws.
* Strong associate relations skills.
* Strong knowledge of workforce analysis.
* Knowledge of various training methodologies and coaching skills.
* Strong problem solving skills.
* Strong analytical skills.
* Strong presentation skills.
* Knowledge of governmental regulations and safety standards.
* Experience in leading people, which includes hiring, issuing discipline, motivating direct reports and problem solving.

**CORE WORK ACTIVITIES **

**Strategic Leadership and Execution**

* Recruitment: Executes against the recruitment strategy to attract, select and retain a diverse hourly and management workforce. Oversees the hiring process for hourly associates and assists with the recruitment of management associates. Utilizes selection processes that identify the best candidates for open positions in a cost effective and efficient manner to meet the business needs of the operation.
* Total Compensation: Administers benefits and compensation plans for both hourly and management associates. Focuses on compliance with Marriott Standard Operating procedures and providing excellent service to enhance associate satisfaction.
* Training and Development: Assists with the coordination and delivery of hourly and management training including new hire orientation, service and job skills training, compliance and safety training and leadership development training.
* To be available as a consultant and trainer to managers and supervisors in all matters relating to the fair and equal treatment of associates. To make sound and logical decisions and to choose appropriate courses of action based on the parameters of the situation at hand and to use the problem solving tools that are available through the Total Quality Management process.
* Responds to, solves, and makes decisions on more complex/non-routine business requests with limited to moderate risk.
* Associate Relations: Administers policies and procedures to ensure associates are treated fairly and equitably. Assists in building and embedding a culture that is aligned with the evolving Marriott organization and the present day business environment.
* Human Resources-Department: Hires, develops and retains a diverse workforce to deliver excellent products and services. Creates and sustains a work environment that focuses on fair and equitable treatment and associate satisfaction to enable business success.
* Ensures open positions are advertised in appropriate venues to attract a diverse candidate pool. Ensures advertising logbook is maintained and employment ads comply with EEO laws and regulations
* Ensures the open position listing is in a visible location for both internal and external candidates and updated in accordance with Human Resource Standard Operating Procedures.
* Works with the recruiting specialist to establish and maintain contact with external recruitment sources e.g., state job service, local colleges, recruiting agencies and community based organizations. Attends job fairs and ensures documentation of outreach efforts in accordance with Human Resource Standard Operating Procedures.
* Networks with local organization and peers to source candidates for current or future openings
* Facilitates interdepartmental transfers and promotions and transfers or promotions to other properties in Marriott International; tracks and publishes the transfers and promotions of associates.
* Ensures interviews are conducted according to recommended guidelines, consistent screening criteria is used, and only job-related questions are asked.
* Oversees the selection and offer processes for hourly associates to ensure proper procedures are followed e.g., valid reasons for selection/non-selection are stated on screening cards and applicants receive status notifications.
* Partners with department managers to recruit management positions, makes hiring decisions and negotiates job offers in accordance with SOPs.
* Ensures reference checks and background checks (when required) are completed and social security numbers are verified in accordance with Marriott Standard Operating Procedures.
* Ensures the area designated for completing employment applications is clean, well maintained and accessible to individuals with disabilities.
* Educates associates on benefits package and uses both as a recruiting tool during the hiring process and a retention tool. Ensures new hires and eligible associates enroll in benefit plans and communicates changes to the benefit plans in a timely manner; coordinates the annual enrollment process.
* Educates HR team on the various types of benefits available and eligibility requirements. Trains team to trouble shoot benefit problems associates may encounter and assists associates in resolving benefits related issues.
* Provides an overview of associate benefits to the management team enabling them to educate their associates
* Perform other tasks as reasonably assigned by the Director of Human Resources

**Talent Management**

* Hire and train the most highly qualified candidates for positions in the Human Resources team.
* Assist Human Resources team members to develop project management skills that will equip them to think creatively and overcome obstacles so that they can successfully complete varied and challenging projects and assignments.
* Encourage Human Resources team members to develop work habits and technical and interpersonal skills that will enable them to effectively complete their work as well as enable them to advance to other positions. This includes informing them about and engaging those interested in ADP, Supervisor Spirit, MCRB and other associate development programs offered by Marriott.
