Dedicated to keeping our readers informed, today
we'd like to review the details regarding a recall that recently affected
several Japanese automotive brands; including 1.7 million Toyota vehicles.
While the large number may seem ominous at first,
it's important to remember that the Toyota autos have been recalled to ensure
the well-being of drivers and passengers on the road. With that said, the vehicles
that are affected include the 2000-2004 model years of the Corolla, Matrix,
Tundra and Sequoia.
The issue at hand pertains to the aforementioned models'
air bag system. Manufactured by Takata, a widely used third-party, the
propellant that inflates the popular safety feature, is burning too quickly.
That rapid bloating can cause the metal canister housing the ignition to
explode, sending metal shards ricocheting through the vehicle's interior.
At Mark Miller Toyota we're
happy to hear that there haven't been any injuries or accidents reported as a
result of the faulty air bag system. Just like the Japanese automaker, who's
responding swiftly to the situation, we certainly hope that drivers and their
passengers remain unharmed by the malfunctioning Takata system.
If you're the owner of one of the aforementioned used cars in
the Salt Lake City, UT area, then we invite you to stop by
our Toyota service and
repair center. During your visit we're happy to inspect
your vehicle for the air bag issue and remedy the problem free of charge!
