Things I did after I spoke at the Northern Star Quilt Guild show

I had to buy the Goddess Sheet for using Misty Fuse!

http://youtu.be/0xNZcN01FR0

I also met some new friends, Barbara Dann, owner of Alleycat Quiltworks in Bellefonte, PA, and  Sue Pelland (Sue Pelland Designs and author of the book, “Rotary Cut Appliqué”) at the World of Quilts XXXV show in Somers on Sunday!

I also had the extreme pleasure to share the weekend with iconic quilter, Sue Nickels!  Sue and I each gave 2 lectures over the weekend!  She’s remarkable!

How could I leave without at least ONE of Sue’s remarkable books?  ANSWER:  I DIDN’T!

Cupcake, Andrea Burton, brought me a yard of the fabric I’ve been searching for from her stash!  Then had to endure my lecture!

And I got a private show of a quilt made by Leila Soffen from my Krakow fabric line for Northcott.

BOOK MARK LIPINSKI NOW FOR LECTURES AND CLASSES!

Mark’s 2014 and 2015 schedule is just about full!

If you’d like me to visit you guild, shop or group to teach or lecture, give me a call at (908) 876-1208!

AND FAST!!!

DERYN MENTOCK

About Deryn…

Deryn Mentock is a jewelry artist whose work has been featured widely in both books and magazines. She is a nationally known teacher and travels to teach mixed media jewelry classes at such venues as Art Unraveled, Adorn Me!, ArtBliss, Art & Soul, and others. In addition, she teaches online classes from her website, Jewelry Works. Her design work includes being on the creative team for Susan Lenart Kazmer and work done for Michaels national craft stores. Her work has been published online for Michaels, as well as in their project book for Susan Lenart Kazmer’s Industrial Chic project book. She maintains a strong online presence for the past six years through her blog Something Sublime and runs a very successful venture into online teaching through her site, Jewelry Works. She’s had hundreds of happy online jewelry making students and continues to gain a following through both sites. She also maintains an Etsy store, Flickr site, Pinterest membership and several Yahoo groups. www.somethingsublime.typepad.comwww.somethingsublime.typepad.com/jewelry_works/www.mocknet.etsy.com

On today’s Creative Mojo with Mark Lipinski, Deryn and Mark talk about how her inspiration journals inspire her when inspiration is low,  the personal benefits of learning how to create jewelry (on not just the physical level but on an emotional level as well), and the conundrum of an artist creating pieces that are one of a kind, then having to let go of them.

Deryn Mentock’s book, The Jewelry Maker’s Design Book: An Alchemy of Objects

Make your very own bohemian, rustic, one-of-a-kind, jewelry that integrates found objects or repurposes beautiful charms and elements from your jewelry box. In The Jewelry Maker’s Design Book: An Alchemy of Objects, you will not only learn solid techniques for making several beautiful projects, but also how toplan and conceive your designs using unique objects in mixed media jewelry pieces. This book includes an overview of the tools and materials you’ll need to get started, as well as a reference section that outlines important techniques. Projects within this book use metals, wire, beads, stones and found objects to create unique jewelry that will have everyone talking. Informative sidebars share tips and design notes that discuss the design elements in the piece; colors, shapes, textures, and what works in the piece and why. Find your inspiration, while developing amazing design skills with The Jewelry Maker’s Design Book: An Alchemy of Objects!

Here is a sampling of just some of Deryn’s work:

MAGGIE BONANOMI

About Maggie…

Maggie Bonanomi designs, teaches and owns a shop, the Purple Turnip, in Lexington, Mo. She lives with her husband in an 1840s house in Lexington and has two married daughters.

On today’s Creative Mojo with Mark Lipinski, Maggie and Mark discuss why people who love primitive needlework design are so loyal, how to embrace imperfections in our own art and craft, how to keep primitive designs looking fresh, and how to find textiles that work for primitive needlework in today’s market.

Maggie Bonanomi’s latest book, Another Place and Time; 18 Primitive Projects Inspired by Travels Near and Far

Take part in primitive artist Maggie Bonanomi s latest adventures, reflected in 18 fresh projects. Since we last met, she s traveled extensively, moved into new studio space and survived life changes. All this has influenced her work you ll find the grays of early springtime in Paris in a new rug and vivid, rain-drenched colors of a walk through the woods in an appliqué project. A wait for the birth of a grandchild inspired more projects. Other projects include a wool sampler, pillows, a quilted bedcover and paper pictures.

Here is a sampling of just some of Maggie’s projects from the book:
