I am so excited to introduce you to Michelle! Actually, I only met her about a hour before the show myself! She is a wonderful and warm quilter from Cape Cod, mother of two, and wife of a career Coast Guard-er (is that a word?). Lot’s of stuff planned. I had to invite her as my co-host, don’t you think? This is too much fun! She is now a wonderful new friend!

KATHY BROWN
About Kathy…
Kathy is an accomplished quilter, fabric designer and sought after teacher in the quilt industry. Kathy has self-published over 125 patterns and 7 booklets as well as having a book published with Martingale and two books published with The House of White Birches. She has been a featured contributor in numerous magazines including The Quilter, Create and Decorate, Quick and Easy Quilting, McCalls Quick Quilts and Fabric Trends. Two of her quilts have been featured on the covers of The Quilter and Mark Lipinski’s Quilter’s Home. Her patterns are geared toward both the experienced and beginning quilter in mind, and are designs that may look intricate but are very simple to construct, as evidenced by her most popular pattern Take 5 and new book Strip-Smart Quilts II. Kathy’s quilts are designed to be made in a day or a weekend whereby the quilter can get instant gratification! When Kathy is not busy designing a new fabric line or new quilt patterns, you can find her teaching and lecturing for quilt guilds and quilt shops across the United States.
Kathy is married to Michael, her best friend of 33 years, and they live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with Maddie and Mia – their two German Shepherds, Ella Fitzgerald – their Welsh Corgi, and Abbie – their rescued Catahoula Leopard dog as well as six very independent cats. They are the very proud parents of a daughter, Erin, who is an emergency room/ trauma nurse in Houston, TX. When Kathy is not at her sewing machine, you can find her watching old movies with Michael or enjoying their lovely backyard oasis and tending to their mini zoo!

Artist, Author, Metalsmith, Designer, Teacher
JOHN SARTIN
About John…
“I didn’t decide to become a metalsmith,” says John Sartin, award-winning maker of truly original wearable art, “it chose me.”
John was a potter before a metalsmith. All it took was “playing in the metal arts” for him to become hooked. His work has garnered numerous awards from some of the best art shows in the Southwest, yet he humbly states that he learns something new every time he makes a piece…even if he’s done the technique hundreds of times.
John loves watching his students come to the realization that a technique they thought would be too difficult is entirely attainable. For John, the processes of teaching and learning are organically intertwined. While he’s creating a piece or teaching in front of students, he’s also learning in those dynamic moments. When asked what his most memorable teaching moment was he said, “Actually writing my book last year was. It was what I taught myself during the process that has so far been the most memorable.”
John’s stunning designs are handcrafted using time-intensive ancient metalsmithing techniques along with techniques of his own invention. Being mostly self-taught, Sartin first presented his work to the public in 2004. His work has been published in, and featured on, the covers of multiple publications including Art Jewelry Magazine, Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist Magazine and in several Lark Books publications. He is also the author of The Complete Photo Guide to Making Metal Jewelry, a Creative Publishing International publication.
The first piece of jewelry John made that he was proud of? “A small pierced brooch with an asymmetrical cab set in the middle,” he says, “it was the very first piece I sold.”

About Janet-Lee
Janet-Lee Santeusanio has been a machine quilter since 1999. Her machine quilting has won many awards and has been published in numerous quilting magazines. She also owns and manages a highly successful, machine quilting discussion group of almost 3000 members. Janet-Lee lives in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire with her husband and two children. Her previous work experience has been in sales and marketing with experience in the medical and computer industries.
Machine Quilters Exposition, LLC (MQX) is an annual machine quilting show and conference founded by Janet-Lee and fellow machine-quilter, Mary Schilke. MQX embraces all machine quilters, regardless of the size or model of machine used to complete the quilting process. What started out as a get-together for longarm quilters in New England rapidly morphed into the largest machine quilting show in the United States. Well known for its friendliness, attention to detail and dedication to their vendors, students and teachers, MQX is looking forward to its next show in April 2014 in Manchester, New Hampshire.
