EDGEWOOD, KY—(Marketwired – January 07, 2016) – An Edgewood dental office has expanded its preventive care hours to be available for patients who want to schedule visits after school and work.

Edgewood Dental Care is a leading dental implant provider and has a state–of–the–art facility that includes a dedicated hygiene department. Dr. Kevin McMahon of Edgewood Dental Care said the office is expanding its preventive care to help more patients in the area achieve a healthier mouth.

“Our office takes pride in treating a variety of dental problems, but of course the most important thing is to keep your natural teeth healthy for your entire lifetime,” Dr. McMahon said. “With aggressive preventive treatments, we can keep our community healthier.”

The office uses digital X–rays to help monitor patients' oral health and offers decay prevention for adults and children. Dr. McMahon and the team use fluoride treatments that prevent cavities and strengthen teeth and hold nutritional counseling sessions for patients.

Dr. McMahon said patients often skip out of regular cleanings and exams because of work or school obligations. Edgewood Dental Care is a comprehensive dental office that can treat a variety of dental problems under one roof, but Dr. McMahon said he wants patients to put a higher premium on prevention.

“With the expanded preventive care hours, we will hopefully make it easier for patients to schedule their regular checkup and appointments,” Dr. McMahon said. “Patients appreciate being given more flexibility with their dental visits instead of having to take off work or school.”

Edgewood Dental Care offers general dentistry, restorative dentistry, sedation dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, gum disease treatment, dental implants, wisdom tooth removal, root canals and full orthodontics — including traditional braces and Invisalign.

The practice uses cone beam computed tomography to take 3–D images of patients' mouths, oral cavity, jawbone and neck; intraoral cameras to take high–resolution images of patients' teeth for education and diagnosis; CEREC technology to provide same–day crowns; LANAP laser technology to treat gum disease; IV sedation to treat fearful patients or patients in need of multiple dental treatments in one visit; and The Wand to deliver pain–free injections.

Edgewood Dental Care provides free coffee, drinks and healthy snacks to its patients and has amenities that will help keep patients comfortable during treatment. Dr. McMahon uses dental implants in his practice to replace missing teeth or to stabilize dentures. He also provides bone grafting for patients who have had their jawbone deteriorate with the loss of their teeth. In July, Dr. McMahon was named a Diplomate of the renowned International Dental Implant Association. This recognition is awarded to dentists who have completed hundreds of hours of continuing education in dental implant training.

Dr. McMahon earned his undergraduate and dental degrees from the University of Kentucky and began Edgewood Dental Care in 1986. Dr. McMahon takes more than 100 hours of continuing education every year to offer his patients the highest quality of dentistry. Dr. McMahon runs Edgewood Dental Care alongside Drs. Daryl Peak, D.G. Gutman and Troy Kramer.
