Rihanna for Balmain

The superstar singer announced via Twitter that she will be the new face (and body) of French fashion house Balmain’s Spring/Summer 2014 campaign. She even shared two pics from the campaign on her Instagram account, showing the singer lying against a black-and-white, square-patterned wall, dressed in exquisite pieces in blue, pink and black and with her dark, wavy hair falling loosely around her eyes which are locked on the lens. ‘In front of the camera, she makes you feel like she is the only girl in the world’, said Balmain’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing.

With the Parisian brand’s move towards a modern and edgier aesthetic in recent years, we think Rihanna is a great brand ambassador for this iconic fashion house.

The North West brow controversy

After sharing another cute photo of celebrity baby North West, social media haters slated new mom Kim Kardashian for apparently waxing her daughters’s unibrow. Kim laughed off these accusations, jokingly tweeting: ‘Do people really think I would wax my daughters eyebrows so young? Come on, I’d wait until she’s at least 2 1/2!’

More backlash followed, naturally, and the reality star had to do some damage control: ‘I’m kidding!!! It’s pretty sick for people to insinuate that I would wax my daughter’s eyebrows. They are thick, natural and amazing!’

Where do you stand on baby grooming: yay or nay? We say nay.

Talking about babies, Monaco announced that Charlotte Casiraghi has given birth to a baby boy with French comedy actor Gad Elmaleh. The little prince was born in Monaco’s Princess Grace Hospital, and has since been named Raphaël.

Diane von Fürstenberg to start fashion reality show

The ‘queen of prints’ designer Diane von Fürstenberg is launching a new reality fashion show. But, unlike Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks or Naomi Campbell, she will not be looking for the next big designer or fashion model. Her reality show will search for a ‘brand ambassador’ in her ‘transformational docu-series for the millennial fashionista’.

We can’t wait to tune in.

The most Googled names of 2013

Google has announced that actors Paul Walker and Cory Monteith, disgraced athlete Oscar Pistorius and President Nelson Mandela were the most Googled people of 2013 based on worldwide searches. Others who made the list include the late Margaret Thatcher and Dr Who star Peter Capaldi, Tom Daley, Miley Cyrus, Lou Reed and Joey Essex, Nigella Lawson and Kim Kardashian.

Elle Fanning stars in powerful body image short

The young We Bought a Zoo actress was recently featured in a short film about body image called Likeness, directed by Oscar-nominated Mexican cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto. The film takes a closer look at how it is becoming increasing acceptable to talk about eating disorders publically – particularly when it comes to fashion/modelling world and Tinseltown, which has, for years, been rife with stories of celebrity weight loss.
