Palo Verde are also dessert trees that need little water, all the same issues apply to the palo Verde as do the mesquite except that palo verde is a soft wood (so is the Sisso) so if over watered it grows to fast and can't support it's own weight resulting in snapped branches. Acacia willows have the same problems as far as breaking when over watered . The Mesquites have hardwood so the weakest point is the roots so they fall over more than break but can split at times.

Since were on the subject...The best Palo Verde to buy is the "Desert museum" hybrid it is much greener and uniformed than a normal Palo Verde.
