A historic snowstorm is expected to hit the eastern coast of US stretching from Philadelphia to New York to Maine. This blizzard is expected to drop close to 90 cm of snow disrupting transport for millions of people. A severe snowstorm warning has already been issued by the National Weather Service indicating the phenomenon would persist from Monday afternoon till Tuesday, affecting life in states from New Jersey to Indiana. Weather experts believe this could be the biggest blizzard to have hit the city of New York. Earlier in 2006, the biggest such storm had dumped a record 68 cm of snow in the New York City. All major airlines including Delta, Southwest and others have cancelled hundreds of flights in view of the snowstorm warning. Citizens have been advised to stay off the roads and if necessary carry emergency kits while venturing out.
