Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician

Position Summary
Performs daily audits of production equipment and product to ensure the highest standards are being met. Follows established procedures to correct deficiencies in order to meet quality standards
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Follows appropriate quality procedures and takes action to meet product specification requirements
* Monitors the facility during operations to assure sanitary conditions are maintained
* Assists in determining causes for product or process deviations and coordinates action with departmental supervision to correct procedures
* Inspects equipment after the sanitation process each day to assure proper cleaning procedures. Follows established procedures to take corrective action if deficiencies are observed to ensure product meets quality standards
* Audits Process Control points to ensure system controls have been achieved. Follows established procedures to correct deficiencies in order to meet product safety standards
* Audits Finished Product(s) for compliance to specifications and follows established procedures to correct deficiencies. Documents observations and results of audits/ inspections on the appropriate forms
* Complete all other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
* High School Diploma or equivalent educational document (GED) required
* 1-3 years experience of working in food processing preferred
* 4 year degree or a minimum of 3 years experience in the food industry in a Quality Assurance position or Lab a plus
* HACCP training preferred
LANGUAGE/MATH/REASONING ABILITY
* Ability to read, write, and speak English with minimal assistance from an interpreter
* This position requires strong math skills. Employee must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
COMPUTER SKILLS
* Must have ability to use a personal computer. Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software for department reporting and record keeping

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
* The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
* Plant audits and inspections may require lifting of products up to 30 pounds. Inspection often requires work in a production environment including work on a moving line, lifting cartons, and visual inspection. Corrected vision required for sensory analysis to identify color, clarity. Warehouse and plant audits also require close and distance vision to judge GMP's; peripheral vision and depth perception mandatory for safety
Work Environment
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold
* The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
* Plant audits/inspections result in exposure to both moderate/loud noises and fumes and mechanical hazards
* Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Work Hours/Schedule
* Monday through Friday: first shift: 07:00 am to 3:30 pm; second shift 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm. Overtime as necessary to back up other shifts or for weekend work.
