Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Programmer
JOB SUMMARY
Most important experience is Siemens Programming.
The PLC Programmer is responsible for software that drives (PLC's) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI's) used for the control and automation of custom systems built for the Material Handling. The role requires the ability to conceptualize how a machine will function, test the machine, commission, start-up at customer's facility. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are used to resolve operational issues related to automation. Position requires thorough knowledge of electrical design and engineering techniques, as well as being experienced with both Allen Bradley and Siemens programming. The PLC Programmer is responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques. They must be able to perform system monitoring, debugging and troubleshooting operational problems, making repairs and performing preventive maintenance activities. Programmer will devise new approaches to problems, prepare or modify drawings, and develop processes following applicable codes adhering to normally accepted engineering standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Assist Field Engineering with start-up and troubleshooting of applied programming
* Using control descriptions, I/O lists, electrical schematics, and drawings, creating PLC/HMI code for control of various electro-mechanical systems
*Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and applying knowledge of electricity, programming, and materials
* Set up electronic control systems for mechanical equipment, including integrating electrical wiring requirements to pneumatic and hydraulic systems
*Participate as necessary in equipment tests including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), assembly, installation, and set-up activities to ensure components and systems are conforming to engineering design standards and customer specifications
*Responsible for planning, developing new approaches, and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, products, procedures and criteria
*Analyze reports, drawings, tests, and other data to plan and design work
*Confirms system's and components' capabilities by designing testing methods; testing properties.
*Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
*Completes special projects upon requests, and other duties may be assigned

Competencies
* Experience programming with Siemens (Step 7, TIA Portal, Win CC Flex) and Allen Bradley (RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, Studio 5000, RSView)
* Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens products (Control Logix, PanelView, PowerFlex Drives, S7, Sinamics),
* Experience with Control hardware design (PLC, HMI, Sensors, VF Drives,…)
* Experience with communications networks (Ethernet, Control Net, Profinet…)
* Experience with electrical codes (NEC, OSHA, NFPA…)
* Experience with AutoCAD and Electrical Schematics (AutoCAD Electrical is a plus)
* Have strong computer skills including: AutoCAD, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Outlook
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, problem solving, critical thinking, committed team player, with strong leadership and customer service skills; capable of stepping up to assure that projects are completed
EDUCATION
Required: Non-degreed candidates must have equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Education may include automation technology with electronics, process control, computer science and basic mechanics.
Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Technology, Electrical Controls Engineering or the equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
Required: 2-5 years of verifiable work experience in Electrical Engineering, Programming, or related fields.
Preferred: 5+ years machine building, automation, integration, programming, control automation or other automation intensive industry sector.
