The summer is almost over, one can hear the cries of joy of stay-at-home moms everywhere.
Finally, the kids are going back to school.
Is it just me or does anyone else think that the summer vacation needs to be abolished?
The education business must try and be accommodating to new realities (that is that both parents must work) and that a big part of the school system is child care (so parents can work, so they can pay taxes, so teachers can be paid). That whole 3 months off and school ending at 15:00 no longer manageable to many people.
OK, it's manageable but very tough and expensive.
I'm not taking anything away from the teaching profession, quite the opposite. I do however blame the politicians and the administration who let the beautiful system of public education become a "business".
