Puttur: Close on the heels of rumours flying around about spotting of a leopard in Salmara Uramal surroundings on the outskirts of the town during the past few days, forest department personnel combed the area on Tuesday May 12evening,looking for signs of its movement.
Residents who accompanied them have informed that marks of feline paws were traced in Jidekallu of Salmara. The personnel made a presumption that they could be of wild cats or leopard cubs.
Leopards have been making a foray into the human habitat in search of pets like domestic dogs and poultry. The forest personnel have placed a cage to capture the animal.
