I remember growing up that I had the weirdest hair ever. It never cooperated, I dealt with CRAZY frizziness, and had such a hard time. It was a big source of lowered self confidence for me as a teen. I don’t think my mother knew anything she could really do to help, either. It took a long time- once I was an adult to figure out how to manage my hair and how to calm it and keep it healthy and manageable. Today I’m sharing how I keep my hair healthy & 3 everyday looks for moms!

My first step was to STOP washing it everyday. I try to do at least every other day, if not every 3 days, seriously. I use a great dry shampoo in between that keeps most of the oiliness at bay. This also means less heat damage because I’m not styling it “from scratch” every single day. Plus, I don’t know about ya’ll, but who has time to style their hair everyday, anyway??

Before I started this routine, I had gotten in a bad habit of just pulling my hair up any old way and most of the time it was NOT flattering. My husband claims to not notice these things, poor guy…

I vowed that I was going to wear my hair down most days of the week. I knew I needed to find some easy, simple styles that I could do to keep my hair from being plain jane but something that wouldn’t be too hard to fix after a few hours of chasing my toddler.

So, I start out my hair routine with a good washing with a high quality shampoo and conditioner.

Once out of the shower I use an anti frizz serum and I blow dry it.

My new favorite hair dryer is my Infiniti Pro by Conair® 3Q™ Brushless Motor Dryer. I think a good quality hair dryer is so important, because it’s easy for heat to totally ruin your hair! The Pro 3Q Blow Dryer reduces drying time by up to 70% with lower temperature and faster airflow to minimize heat damage.

I use my Conair Velvet Touch paddle brush to manage my hair when I’m blow drying. By brushing through my hair while blow drying, I reduce a lot of the frizz and craziness. Then, just about every style I do uses my trusted bobby pins!

If I’m going to straighten my hair, the blow dryer does most of the work. I feel like the heat from the blow dryer is way less damaging than my flat iron, so I put that baby to good use before the flat iron comes near my head! I also use a heat protectant spray.

There are so many things you can do with your hair, but one of my favorites is super simple and keeps my hair out of my eyes (makes chasing a toddler easier)…

I feel like even just having my hair down just looks a million times better than just throwing it up any old way. I feel like most other people look better with their hair down, too. Don’t worry, though, I do have a style I’m going to share for those that NEED to keep their hair up!

For this style, I just take the front section of hair and start a simple braid. Once it gets about to ear level I pin it down with a bobby pin and cover it with some hair. I think this adds a cute, functional touch.

However, I don’t always like to keep my hair straight. For curly hair days, I love to use my Infiniti Pro by Conair® Curl Secret®. This thing… it is MAGICAL. I’ve never been one to use a curling iron, and my hair looks awful when I try to “scrunch” it and have curls that way. They’re always stiff and just not what I’m wanting. When I discovered this tool, I was a little apprehensive, and totally thrilled once I tried it out and experienced how easy it was to use and how well it worked.

For natural looking, soft curls, the Infiniti Pro by Conair® Curl Secret® is a miracle tool. I never thought that creating these curls in my hair would be so easy.

I really recommend Walmart for your beauty supply purchases. They have the best prices I’ve seen.

The Curl Secret uses tourmaline-ceramic technology to reduce frizz. You can use it to create tight, spiral curls, or looser curls like I created here. The tool draws your hair into the chamber and curls it instantly for you. It’s seriously no work at all. It will beep if you have put your hair in incorrectly, and it will beep when the time is up so you don’t leave it on your hair too long. This makes it SO easy to use. Plus, for those like me with mommy brain, it has a 60 minute shut off feature if you forget to turn it off! With this I can create curly looks like never before!

To make it mom friendly, I just take that same front section of hair and pin it right back with a bobby pin.

Now for the last style, I’m using my hair curled and just pulling it back and securing it with an elastic band. Then, I take pieces of the pony tail and twirl and twist them, pinning the ends with a bobby pin to create a messy bun. This gives me an everyday “up do” that looks like I put some effort into it!

So these are my super simple everyday looks that I use to avoid just wearing my hair up everyday. Do you try and avoid the mom pony tail, too? Do you think you could give these a try?
