First time mama Jessica had an amazing team of friends and family plan and put together a gorgeous baby shower for her with an adorable Sweet Pea theme. Decorative touches made this celebration a perfect way to kick off the beginning of her new daughter’s life.

Who threw your baby shower for you?

I had a baby shower “team” that consisted of a number of my close friends and my sisters, Laura and Angela. I was involved in a lot of the planning as well.

Was the shower co-ed or ladies only? Why did you decide to go that way?

Ladies only. Personally, my friends’ husbands or significant others had zero interest in attending a baby shower so I purposefully did not invite them to the shower. Sometimes us ladies need to have some time away from the husband and bond with other mothers our friends and family; we all need something that can unite us and what a better event than a baby shower!

How far along were you? Did you know the gender? Did that make a difference in the theme?

My baby shower was in June 2013, I was eight months along and I did know the gender. That absolutely made a difference in the theme of the shower, I went over the top girly and used a lot of pink colors.

What was your favorite game that you played at the shower?

I did not play a lot of games at the shower but I did play one game where my sister asked six questions to the invitees that were related to either me or my husband when we were babies; whoever got the most right won a bath and body works “sweet pea” gift set. I thought that this game added a nice personal touch and it was not one of the usual baby shower games.

What was your favorite element of the shower?

My favorite element of the shower was the sweet pea theme. When I was younger “sweet pea” was my nickname and thus the shower was all related to this. I had sweet pea flowers placed throughout, a sweet pea banner, and sweet pea napkins that I designed online.

What did you buy your hostess(es) as a thank you gift?

I took two of the girls out to dinner about a week after the shower and the day of the shower I took my best friend, Crystal, to get pedicures before the shower.

If you were to throw a baby shower for your friend or relative what is one thing that you would use from the shower that you attended?

My best friend, Jessica, designed a pink tutu table skirt that went around the dessert table, it took her a long time to make the table skirt but it was the most beautiful piece of the whole party! I would also suggest a chocolate fountain, everyone loved to dip all of the delicious treats in the fountain!
