Get the Look: Staying Fit is Stylish! #ThisIsStyle #Shop #Cbias

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for Collective Bias and its advertiser.

If you’ve been around for any period of time, you’ve probably heard me talk about running before.  I really got into it about a year ago.  My longest official distance to date is 10 miles!  Running in sweats is so 1980.  Does anybody actually find that comfortable?  Gone are the days of assuming sweats will be what you wear when you run, and while fashion does seem to repeat itself, I hope we don’t see leotards and legwarmers making a comeback any time soon.  The last thing I need distracting me when I’m on a run is how I look, and that’s why I get so darn giddy when I find comfortable, functional and fashionable workout gear – and if it’s affordable, that’s even better!  Finding gear that meets my needs and gives me the look for less, well – that’s a tall order!

Less Weight, More Problems

After spending half of 2013 losing fifty pounds, you could say that I am pretty serious about keeping it off in 2014.  A big part of that is exercise and keeping up the changes I’ve made in my diet.  In all honesty, I feel better working out when I know I don’t look like a ragamuffin.  Having cute clothes helps, I promise!  In the summer, you’ll find me in cute running skirts with shorts underneath, but when the weather gets cooler, I need a little more coverage on my legs.  I’m finally at the point where even the smallest things I had from the Spring are WAY too big, and putting off shopping for new workout pants was no longer an option, so on our way to see Santa the week before Christmas, I popped into Sears to see what they had to offer.

Happy, Happy!

Clearly I was happy with how my trip turned out!  Sears has some super cute stuff!  Joe Boxer and US Polo had the most things that caught my attention, US Polo more for the performance aspect and Joe Boxer for the comfort side.  Depending on what my workout consists of on any given day, I’m looking for one or the other in my outfit.  On yoga days, comfort is just about as important as anything else (and Joe Boxer has a yoga line!), but when I run, I need something that isn’t baggy or loose, wicks moisture and stays put.  There’s nothing worse than pants that start to sag or shirts that ride up when you run!

They Had Me At Thumbholes

There are some things I’m a sucker for, and one is a jacket with thumbholes.  Maybe it’s because I started my running journey during the winter months, maybe it’s just because I live in the South and have no idea what real cold running feels like, but there’s something about my hands being cold that I can stand.  Not my fingers, but the palms.  Before I discovered thumbholes, I would pull my shirt sleeves down and hold them over my palms with my fingers.  That wasn’t a great way to run.  Since discovering thumbholes, it takes every bit of self control I have to walk away and not buy thumbhole jackets.  I already own more than I should.

Love, Love

When I head out to yoga or zumba, which I plan to do at least once a week this year – it’s a 2014 goal, I like to wear a tight fitting, not a lot to it, top and something to pull on over my sweatiness before I head back out into the cold air.  I think this Joe Boxer Love Love shirt looks perfectly designed for just that.  It’s loose, so it won’t cling to me, and has a very warm and cozy feel.  It would also be a great ‘laying around the house’ or ‘running to the grocery store’ shirt, but we’re going to stick to it’s intended use – at least for a little while.

All The Right Moves

Sometimes, it’s really the little things that draw you in.  What I ended up with, well, it was really a matter of two things…

That’s Only The Beginning

Having the right gear and getting up and on my feet are only part of the battle.  If I want to stay in a medium and not need to replace those older, larger workout clothes I’ve now donated, I’m going to have to keep healthy eating on my mind.  It would be a shame not to be able to wear this look for less out in the Spring!  I’ve been using eMeals menu planning for a few months and they’ve just introduced a new under 500 calorie menu plan.  They have a Maple-Dijon Pork Tenderloin on their sample menu that I can’t wait to try!

Everyone Has Goals

We all have goals for 2014.  My fitness related goals are heavily focused on my weight, but I am also focused on a few other things…  I want to survive the Cooper River Bridge Run in April.  It’s only a 10K, but that bridge is going to be rough!  I want to be consistent in meeting my 1 zumba class a week goal.  And last, I want to get more involved in active, outdoor activities.  Who wants to go for a hike?

What are your fitness goals for 2014?  Do you need to head out to Sears and grab a new wardrobe before you can get started?
