(Cambodia, Phnom Penh, 8 Nov) Sin Chew Media Corporation executive chairman cum Media Chinese International Limited Group executive chairman Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King says Chinese media is moving towards corporatization and globalization in its bid to seek for more rights to speak as well as growing to be more influential in the world. The aim is to voice out justice and Chinese culture, to have an equal platform for dialogue and discussion with western media and to get rid of the disadvantaged situation of “inaccurate message” for more than 100 years.

He firmly believes that there must be Chinese language, Chinese culture and Chinese media wherever Chinese are. This is the ideology of Media Chinese International Limited Group moving towards global platform to set up a media empire for Chinese in the world.

Tiong is also the president of World Chinese Media Association cum head of Cambodia Sin Chew Daily. He said this at the 15th anniversary of the inception of Cambodia Sin Chew Daily.

On behalf of all the staff, Tiong expresses gratitude towards the Cambodian Government and Cambodian Chinese community for supporting Sin Chew Daily. The paper is developing faster.

He points out that under the stiff challenge of new technology, new media, internet and smart phones, Sin Chew Daily has started its transformation mechanism and ready to transform, upgrade and explore versatility in digital media. The paper is even ready and making effort to venture into new investment fields. Among them, Cambodia Sin Chew Daily has started WeChat public platform early this year to be closer to readers using the advantage of technology. The platform has even provided faster and more dynamic media and advertising platform to local business community and readers.

“Cambodia Sin Chew Daily has put in 15 years of hard work. In the journey to disseminate and passing down culture, this is only the beginning. In other words, under stiff challenge, we continue our journey in hurry. We will continue to work hard and sincerely hope to serve the Cambodian Chinese and its community. We contribute what we can for the dissemination and exchange of Chinese culture.

To contribute to Chinese education in Cambodia

He says Sin Chew Daily is used to defend ethnic’s right, promote culture, disseminate positive energy and promote national development. We sincerely hope that we would receive recognition from the Cambodian Government and its people. By reading Cambodia Sin Chew Daily, upgrade their knowledge of culture, grooming the younger generation good values and establish the must have essence of a civilized society.

Voicing out through media, urges Chinese in the world to unite

“Cambodia is a young and energetic country which is full of hope. Sin Chew Daily has come here to set up a newspaper. Apart from culture mission, we hope to be the bridge for the government and people of Malaysia and Cambodia. We hope to contribute towards the economic development, prosperity of society and racial harmony in Cambodia in a small way for this peaceful, beautiful and passionate country to ride on the train of progress under the leadership of its premier Hun Sen.”

Tiong says Sin Chew Daily crosses a country’s border to set up newspaper in Cambodia and join hands with Ming Bao in Hong Kong, its sister paper, to proceed into global area. We hope to build a media empire for the Chinese throughout the world. Through our own media network, we can have our ideas and voices of peace and justice for mankind. We also lead readers to deliver care and concern to the disadvantaged groups in the society. This is why despite shortage of manpower, Cambodia Sin Chew Daily insists on charitable events for nine years.

“In the past, we have been complying and accepting the views and culture of the west. In future we should work hard to discover oriental values, including the good points of Cambodian culture. Rise of Chinese economy upgrades status of Chinese media

Tiong says the rise of Chinese economy has brought along the economic value and status of Chinese language in international community. This has prompted Chinese media to play a significant role in economic and politics sector.

“In Malaysia, Sin Chew Daily is an established newspaper with millions of readers. It is a renowned and influential newspaper in Chinese community throughout the world. Under Sin Chew Daily there is Nanyang Siang Pau, Chinese Press, Guang Ming Daily, Ming Pao and Asia Week in Hong Kong as well as more than 30 types of magazines, forming a Media Chinese International Limited Group.

It is listed in Malaysia and Hong Kong, winning the recognition and emphasis of media personnel throughout the world.

Assist Cambodians to connect with the world

“Based on the passion and cultural ideology in running the newspaper, I sincerely hope that those working in Cambodia Sin Chew Daily can continue with their effort. He says Sin Chew Daily would be the messenger of new information and new knowledge in future for Cambodian Chinese to know movements in the world in an easy way, understand more about development in China and ASEAN as well as lives of Chinese throughout the world. When Cambodia stays in touch with the world, Cambodia is also being introduced to the world.

Tiong also says as a Chinese newspaper, the paper would forever safeguard its cultural mission, looking forward to re-establish the glory of the culture. We hope to assist the Chinese in Cambodia to overcome the missing link in culture, absorb cultural essence, and re-establish culture in life. Culture is the root and soul of an ethnic group. Through learning and understanding of culture, confidence can be enhanced and enriched an ethnic group. This will change the essence of an ethnic group. Through common language and culture, we can establish close ties with Chinese throughout the world.

Cambodian information minister praises contribution of Sin Chew Daily

In his speech, Cambodian information minister Khieu Kanharith praises the contribution of Cambodia Sin Chew Daily in driving the social and economic development of Cambodia and attracting foreign investors.

He says the newspaper supplies readers the latest news and business information in Cambodia including comprehensive coverage on business and trade details, investment, property, financial and share market. On political news the paper has also provided readers updated and objective reports.

Praises for activities sponsoring learning

The minister hopes Cambodia Sin Chew Daily, while promoting development in news coverage, also helps countries in the region and the world to understand more about Cambodia to further market and promote business, trade and tourism industry in Cambodia.

Kanharith gives Cambodia Sin Chew Daily praises for its annual charity event in assisting students to learn.

He is of the view that the study aid offered by Sin Chew Daily to assist the poor Chinese in rural areas to learn Chinese so that they stand a chance to learn a foreign language and secure a good job in future, this assists the Cambodian government and the society to lower poverty rate.
