Mighty Wanderers head coach Gerald Phiri has resigned due to how things were poorly being run and experienced in the club. Phiri has since then been replaced by Yasin Osman, who was the team’s Technical Director, Malawi24 has established.

The team’s Executive had earlier planned to hold a crisis meeting on Tuesday afternoon following the team’s worst ever season in the top flight.

The team only managed to collect a point from the possible six points during their Mzuzu tour, loosing to Karonga utd in the process and settling for a 1-all draw. The results moved the Blantyre based giants to position 12 on the log table with 21 points from 20 games.

Sources close to Malawi24 have revealed that Phiri was on the verge of being sacked before making his decision on Monday evening. Some weeks ago, the team’s fans wanted the executive to fire Phiri soon after loosing to Azam Tigers in the TNM super league but the former Bullets coach was backed by his employers.

However, Phiri has had enough of the team’s poor run of form and has decided to call it a day.
